Description Kogel Bay, South Africa

Manual blend of 2 exposures. The long exposure is made possible by the use of a ND400 filter. I have shot many variations of this composition before. Those mountains are just wonderful when light hits them.

Did you use a GND also or just blended 2 stock photos.

Do you find even out the exposure slightly with a GND helps, or no GND works just as good when blending.

igs [2010-12-10 07:40:56 +0000 UTC]

was there one exposure for the sky and another for the sea? does that mean that the ND filter is not enough to reduce the light from the sky during exposure?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

prperold In reply to igs [2010-12-10 18:35:47 +0000 UTC]

I used a solid ND filter, not a graduated one. The sky was way too bright and the whites clipped for the shot exposed for the foreground. I had to under-expose another shot to get detail in the clouds. I then blended the 2 together.

i see, well i automatically assumed it was a gradual ND filter. thank you for the explanation.
