If it helps.Riding my bike.Almost now 5 years riding it EVERY day. On my bike lane. All good and sound. A delivery guy, in a motorbike, cuts through the lane. Didin't look at all. Didin't matter my front bar light, neither my front helmet light, and not to mention my security vest... No time to think, just react...wrong choice also!! LOL. Left alone with my bike as a hat. No harm done beside some scratches and my own proud. So yep, it could happen to anyone.

You should press both, and the front stronger than the rear and you must train yourself always to push your entire body to the back almost as if you're going to sit on the rear wheel, while not losing tight grip on the handle bar so you don't steer left or right
