Description
Before I started drawing people, I drew animals and dragons and things... and now I want to get back to them!I never used to try to learn how to draw things 'properly', though, learning about anatomy and trying to develop ways to draw things from my imagination consistently... My studies of humans have switched my mind into a different mode, and now I'm approaching drawing wolves like I've never approached it before.
I want to get to the point where I can fluently draw fluid, stylised creatures like the skilled artists on this site can, but first I've got to trudge my way through understanding the form and familiarising myself with the features and such.
This is a quick (about an hour) painting of a wolf's face from a reference photo, by eye, which followed various sketches to try and understand the general proportions. I'm not satisfied with it - it looks irritatingly no more impressive than a similar wolf face painting that I did many years ago - but I suppose it's a necessary step or something. I think it doesn't look quite right, but that's to be expected due to unfamiliarity with the subject.
Furred animals are more irritating to draw than human faces... but non-human creatures seem 'easier' to draw in that there's not a part of our brains that easily notices any tiny flaw in their faces if they're not drawn exactly right...
It'll be interesting drawing animals again after spending so long on humans, anyway!

How is it ugly. It's awesome! I can't draw wolves very well but you have a talent for art (and wolves). This is one of the best drawings of a wolf I've ever seen!

I don't think it's ugly at all, and I have a bizarre attachment to wolves, for some unknown and slightly creepy reason. O.o
I love the way it's blurred to bring out the fur effect. I think it's lovely.

Damn! And I tried really hard to make it a real MINGER, too. (I bet that's a word everyone's familiar with.)

Oooh, so you wanted to include Minger Email Address Verification Protocol there as well? So this image could in fact send e-mails? That would be interesting indeed. And ugly!!1
Too bad it didn't work in the end. ^^'

(I should have used the word 'dog' instead of 'minger'. How witty I am.)

Well, I for one think it's amazing.
In my experience, one is never satisfied with what one draws. Your mind always picks out the tiny flaws (which is easy for it, because you know where they are, you drew the thing) and makes them huge. I don't think that's a bad thing, though. It drives you to do better, and it's a learning experience type of thing.

It's really good, and there's just a hint of human features, almost like a werewolf.
