Wow..you knew people who committed suicide this way? I can't imagine...it would be like drowning, which I could never do, so I can't imagine how it would be for others to do it. The body fights for breath eventually. So very sad

one really precios family friend hung herself on a dogleash this year. If I was the one who found her, I would certainly turn insane just from that sight. Persong hanging on a rope, that's the most terrible thing that I can imagine.
But then again, every kind of suicide is terrible

With the exception of the finger tips... This is done perfectly. Even the shadowing on the wall was perfect. I could actually find myself envisioning what the rest of the scene would have looked like.
The chair is the detail that is what adds the real perfection to this shot. And it's in a position that is believable in the scope of the photo.
As always, this is an amazing piece... just like everything you do.

But thank you for saying so, it makes my morning all that much brighter.
I was going for the fingertips in the shot, I wanted to give it just a touch more then toes/chair, but I WILL be revisiting this piece because my model says he's figured out a way to make it more realistic.
The critique is greatly appreciated though. The next time I do this I want to do it better, so I'm going to have to keep in mind about the fingers! D

Fingertips would be a good touch, but you're going to have to show a LOT more of the lower body to pull it off correctly. When talking about a hanging victim, the finger tips will be near their waist. Not their knees. LOL. Unless they are an ape. Then I guess their fingers may be near their knees. But if they are proportioned like that, then just a regular picture of them would probably be a pretty damn interesting photo!
It's hard to pull a shot off like that with them sitting on a wall because of how much of the lower body that will have to show to make it believable.

We checked with him standing, and since your arms are actually fairly long, with the perspective, they WOULD reach that far, I wanted to add a little more to the picture, so I took a chance.
I hope to re-visit this and try again with a better background and angle...thanks for saying that though, because I will be on the watch for it when I try again

We have one of those um..what are they called. It's like a wall divider? I got my model to sit on it, as we have no rafters or anything, or even a wall that has nothing against it, the dining room was the best I could do. Then I had to get down and angle myself so it didn't look like he was sitting on the wall divide. I hope it worked
