I do not condone eating disorders, self inflicted pain, or sewing ones lips to their teeth. I have considerable gapping which allows for thread passage, AND a piercing in my lower lip.
Taken with the intent of displaying anorexia and the feeling behind it. I do not suffer from any kind of eating disorder, but I know other people who do, and it must be scary. It's not a cry for attention, it's a cry for help, just like depression - more light shed on something less talked about brings about more options and outlets for those who suffer, be it from anorexia, depression, abuse...

The song, as I stated via my authors comments, is absolutely amazing. But it makes sense. It sings about not changing for the world and being yourself, how somebody will always be there for you. Unfortunately, people with illnesses don't FEEL that way and they do things continuously to hurt themselves. The song is a plea, the picture is an expression of the plea. It makes sense.
How dare I? I am an artist. You're entitlted to your opinion, I am entitled to my explaination; I am also allowed to create as I see inspiration. Which I have.
Nothing against your comment but if you looked deeper then the surface you would have seen all these things without having to make a how dare you comment.

I remember when I first had internet access at home, when I was 15. I cried when I first found a message board about eating disorders and depression, when I first read my own thoughts in other people's words.

I've never cried but I have felt strongly about eating disorders, depression, hell, everything - so I try to convey that meaning into a visual stimuli, then give it to others to see. A lot of my work has statistics and meaning, it's really nice when somebody reads the artists comments like you have and then says that it meant something to them <3

Very interesting and freaky at the same time
I really love it. When I went through a dark depression phase there were times I wanted to eat everything and then lots of times I would not want to eat. Well, actually right now , for almost a full year, I have been going through a strange phase inside my head , only in my head inside my brain, where one glance at a magazine or the tv, coincidentally showing a model or some woman in her 20s or late teens that is some prideful bitch all about glamor and looks, would make me lose my appetite. 
anyway!!! I said too much but this image inspires me to want to finally start on some ideas I had awhile ago to express my brutal side of the media.
how it affects me inside the head. i just suck at putting my ideas together.

I can completely relate to those feelings - the media is a disgusting, mass subliminal messaging tool that makes women (and men, but from what I've seen, to a lesser degree) feel they need to look a certain way to be pretty or accepted. I hate it.
I admit I've felt the same way you feel - but unlike you I'm sure I could deal with a few extra bits lost here and there, since I have children, even though I KNOW I don't need to to be accepted, or pretty, etc, etc. It's all because of what I see everywhere.
I would love to see your images on the brutal side of the media! I anxiously await
