Pleasantly surprised to have it as a DD! Thanks to everyone who has or will fave this. I've tried to thank you all personally on your pages but dA thinks I'm spamming so I'm afraid I can't although I have thanked about 200 deviants here. I will however, respond to all comments on this video.

Running Free is the accumulation of six weeks of intense filming and editing, blood, pain, joy, sweat, fear and above all things, pure freedom.

So often people see free running as something other than an art, Running Free tries to break that idea by giving you a first person account of the art.

The film was born when I happened to mention to my friend, David Stewart, that I was a keen free runner, he mentioned to me that he was a keen film maker, the two minds clicked and we decided to make this film. We spent two weeks writing scripts and coming up with ideas and concepts but we just came out with rubbish. So we decided to just film some footage of me free running and that's when the penny dropped, how could we possibly come up with an idea for a film about something so free? We continued to film for three weeks till I sustained an injury to my coccyx (you can see the accident at 1:35) which put me out of action for a number of weeks. In this time we met up to chat about the film and David had the idea to interview me. I had not planned any of what I was going to say which I think really works for the film, it's a free runner talking about free running in a very honest, off the cuff way. The track, Burial by Forgive just seemed to feel right when we put it in the film and there were no questions as to whether it should be in the film or not.

A big thank you to everyone involved in making the film. Our friends who helped critique the first drafts. Hyperdub for giving us permission to use the music free of charge. William Bevan for writing Forgive; seriously, a better track for the video could never be found. Phil Hunter for teaching me what free running was all about. And finally, spontaneity, for giving us brilliant audio for the video.

All filming was done by David Stewart, I co-directed the video with him and the free runner was myself. Copyright is under both our names.

Permission was granted by Hyperdub to use the track, Forgive by Burial in the film in September 2009.

I rarely sit and watch videos pn dA but for some reason I watched this one. I think the combination of angles, effects, and voice overs captured me and kept me intrigued. Nicely done and thank you for sharing.

Nice film and niceliy editing, I guess I shoulden't say much to my defence because I don't do freerunning but your tricks wasn't that advanced if you compare with others

That is true that my tricks aren't as advanced as others. And I admire those free runner's work. This is not about how good or bad I am however, this is simply to show you how free running makes me feel.

awesome. very nice work. im always so impressed by the amount of grace (and stamina- mostly because i have none) that these free runners have. very cool to watch. nice work.

Grace does not come easily. Trust me, you should see my early footage, far from graceful! And 1:35, not graceful at all! Hehehe!

Glad that you enjoyed the film .

I found it intriguing - I must admit i chuckled at your falls - Your accent is now lingering in my head - For from here on out, whenever i imagine an obstacle to slip through i will be thinking of your voice

Hehe, mate, I laugh at my falls too! It just opens you up to reality. Sometimes you have to realise that you're not invincible, and weirdly enough, it makes you laugh. As soon as I'd fallen, the first thing I wanted to do was watch the footage despite the mega pain of the first fall!

Your short film is one of the examples to the people that you don't need neither special effects nor a big budget to do something good... and entertaining. Those are hypnotizing images, seriously.

See ya.
