Description
I wanted to revisit one of my first mech designs ([link] ). Had trouble working out the leg poses in the perspective drawing but I think I know how to set it up better for next time. For now, assume it's sitting or something; the little thumbnails show the correct walking posture.Read more about this walker: [link]

Great design, a walking armored helicopter. As said above nice details too!

Hmmm, really interesting Wiki. So what's its primary role? Fire support, frontline engagement, transport..?

It serves a role similar to infantry transports such as the M2 Bradley, though it is slower and more heavily armored.

Ah, so it's like an APC and an IFV?

You got some nice details here... did you use any models or references to come up with this design?

Other than the original for inspiration, I looked at photos of helicopters and tanks to get a better idea of what to do in terms of functional details, though a lot of that is just generally from memory of what I've seen before.
The main influence on my mech designs is usually helicopters, though. I'm not really into the gundam look; I prefer mecha that are more along the lines of classic Mechwarrior (Battletech) designs.

See, I like the helicopter idea. If walkers do eventually come about, it seems more likely that they'll be in an anti-infantry role, rather than anti-armour. That, combined with the high maneuverability expected, would lead to lighter, helicopter-ish chassis'. And, of course, the fact that a Hind D on legs is basically an awesome idea. (Hmmm, idea forming...)
Anyway. Nice job! (And you namechecked me, which makes me feel famous. I might get business cards!)

I like that idea. "Wunderbear, Certified Mecha/Walker Engineer and Technical Advisor"
Hind D on legs eh? *ponders* I like where this is going.

So do I! I just hope I can be bothered to do it.

Love the smoke canisters. Little things like that really give these imagines the links back to reality that make them seem so much more real.

I try to always add those kinds of details on my designs to bring them from pure concept to a functional realism. ~wunderbear also influenced my early direction in mech design to help me push towards more plausible walkers, which helps make them that much more believable.
