Description
Not necessarily final, but I’m honestly quite happy with how it’s laid out now. This would be the full wraparound, all major land-masses accounted for and to scale with each other.
Doesn’t account for projection distortion because idk how the fuck I would even approach that other than somehow plastering this on maybe a 3d globe and then unwrapping a projection from that which sounds like a nightmare of unnecessary (for now) detail.
ANYWAY yeah so now I have a nice little world put together at long last. The big pieces at least. With plenty of room for bonus lizard people in the future. Or possibly birdpeople. Hmm. Will continue to think on that.

This is fantastic! What program did you use to make this? I've been trying to find a good one. Freehand is not my forte.

A combination of some little terrain-generating program I found on the internet a long time ago with a lot of manual cut-paste-and-transform and plenty of hand-detailing in photoshop. As well as using plenty of other maps, fictional and real, as reference.
Thanks!

Thanks!! That actually really helps!
For sure!
So is this for a novel or a comic? or just to give your art placement?

You're welcome
The latter, for the moment; in the future, I want to expand into some sort of narrative media and use it to tell fully-developed stories.

That would be awesome! I didn't realize until I started making my own map the other day just how different this will play out. I'm building it for a story. But I know the story won't be written for another few years, so I just kinda throw down ideas and refine them until then. Which is a pretty good strategy if you are thinking of writing a story and have an idea.

Holy is that... Is that an impact crater in the Outlands? This world looks amazing though, the continents appear to have a sort of twisted shape but of course I would love to just go down there and see all those environments for myself it looks beautiful! Well done!

Something to that effect. You might even call it Chekhov's crater :>
Thank you!

The majority of the detail seams to be far enough away from the poles to minimize distortion with a spherical mapping, you could add detailed strips top and bottom if you want polar caps or just leave them blank.

Yeah, true enough. For now I have little practical use for a proper map projection (or indeed a globe), so I'll probably leave it as is for the moment.

I see a big impact creator in the outlands, one that looks still new enough to have not changed with the land masses.
How much damage did that leave in it's wake? Also, how long did it take for the world to recover from that?

It's to be revealed at a later time along with most of the other details of the world outside the main two continents
