Description I *think* this is my last submission to the Spinner's End challenge, 'Thank you, Severus.'

The scenario goes thus in my head:

'Here's my soul, Dumbledore. Would you care for some of my special vintage to go with that?'

'Why thank you, Severus!'

Obviously, a somewhat twisted and ironic take on the challenge. And I know that's a heart on the platter, not a soul, but I'm not exactly sure how to draw a soul, and Snape's doe was NOT co-operative! Oh, and the words on the bottle are: Vintage Snape. Blood. Sweat. Tears.

Just a quick illustration done with ink pens on bristol board.

Haha! I love this... The concept is deep and dark, but the sarcasm makes it swallow-able

Slightly depressing that this is pratically canon... :/

Great job though.

Oh man, this is really freaky, I was thinking of writing a fanfiction with a VERY SIMILAR concept (though the context is completely different). It's so similar!

Wonderful!! I cannot agree more with this!! Dumbledore was worse than Voldy. Riddle was a sick bastard, but he didn't try to cover his actions masking them as 'the greatest good...'

pythiadelphi In reply to Leona1981 [2011-12-23 22:02:21 +0000 UTC]

Thank you. ~nods~ At least Voldemore was honest about what he was about and what he wanted. He *did* try to keep from killing Lily, and expressed regret over having to kill Snape because of the Elder wand. Dumbledore had no intention of saving Lily, because he wanted Voldemort to 'mark Harry as his equal' in order to complete the prophecy, and he didn't give a shit about Snape.

I love the cross-hatching and shading here. Love Snape's pose and profile. I also like your Dumbledore. You are one of my favorite HP artists!

pythiadelphi In reply to Gryffgirl [2011-12-22 15:26:49 +0000 UTC]

You are waaaay too kind, my dear. Especially considering the sheer number of immensely talented artists here on dA. But thank you so much! What I do is just slog away and copy as many famous artists as possible, in the hopes of someday developing my own style.

I *hate* doing cross-hatching since it's so painstaking, but I thought I'd try to emulate a Victorian b&w sketch for this piece, because it's kinda caricaturish. His pose is that of a classical waiter in a posh restaurant, and I was worried that it made his bum stick out too much, lol! And this is my first Dumbledore, so yeah!

KellyJoy [2011-12-22 04:39:00 +0000 UTC]

A fitting commentary. And I actually think the heart is approciate, as Dumbledore in a way kept Severus' heart (his feelings for Lily) hostage to keep his spy in line.

...that said, I must apologize, for despite all the delicious irony, I find my attention most drawn to Severus' shapely bum. *is ashamed*

pythiadelphi In reply to KellyJoy [2011-12-22 15:31:08 +0000 UTC]

Thank you. Yes, I suppose it is rather apropos when you put it that way.

No, no, please don't be ashamed! I was, in fact, worried that the servile pose made his bum stick out in an ungainly fashion, so I'm dead chuffed that you like it.

Naw, you can never have too much bum. Especially when it's Severus'. *nods sagely*

I think Dumbledore has lost his chance for a nice, painless Avada Kedavra. Can a person be Crucio-ed to death? I'm sure Snape would like to give it a try.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

pythiadelphi In reply to janach [2011-12-22 14:57:43 +0000 UTC]

You're right. I actually think I prefer Voldemort, since at least he was honest about what he was and what he wanted from Snape. He actually tried to keep his promise to spare Lily, and he even said he regretted that Snape had to die. It's not much, but still...
