Description
So I've changed some of these pictures a bit .. to give them a transparent background, so I've changed the format to png but ... why does the colours become so bright and weird when I upload it here? D: Why, DA, why?The shadow temple ... man .... Resident Evil, Eternal darkness, Silent Hill in all its honor. But they've got nothing on the frigging Shadow temple. Have anyone ever played this as a kid and not being scared for life? I think not. I think it took me a year go get through this hell-hole ... And even these days I feel uneasy whenever I think of it, so I tend to hurry past it.
And I think I kinda hurried past the picture too. But the creepy thing with the shadow temple was the suspense, knowing that behind every next door there could be a re-dead waiting for you. So yeah .. it became kinda dark. Anyway. Made it sometime in November.
Wanna see the other temples? They are right here.

This brings back an old theory about the temple and its boss I had. It is known Bongo-Bongo was indeed a Shiekah once, given its title mans its a deceased person. But the man that would become the monster was once a normal guy, that is until he inherited his family's heirloom, the Lens of Truth. But what he saw when he actually used the Lens drove him mad, seeking to kill those he believed were guilty of crimes they did not commit. As the number of disappearances began to grow, he was eventually caught by Impa in the basement of his house, though she was too late to save his latest victim, the wife of the owner of Lon Lon Ranch. A fight broke out, which Impa gained the upper hand by severing the killer's hands before executing him. But Impa saw a ghostly figure rise from the corpse, but it vanished as she lacked the eyes that can see the truth. Instead of risking allowing the wraith to get free to continue its killing, she had the house destroyed and the well built in its place, the pure water strengthening Impa's seal, keeping the malevolent spirit at bay. But once the water was drained, the seal began to crack, until it shattered just as Link was looking for the next Temple after completing the Water Temple.
Once the spirit was free, it sought out Impa and found her in the Shadow Temple. It then changed the temple's interior to fit it's twisted view on Hyrule's bloodstained past. The Shadow Temple's original function was a resting place for the fallen heroes of Hyrule, those that sacrficed their lives to bring peace to the land from endless war. But Bongo Bongo raised their corpses as monsters, defiling the scared temple. Though it was after a Sage, Bongo Bongo had no connection with Ganondorf, though it could be argued he was an accidental release because of his actions.

This is cool! The Shadow Temple is one of the freakiest places in the game. And yet I really loved the short boat trip at there. Glad you didn't put Dead Hand in there but the ReDeads are still freaky enough. >.<
Faving!

I have to agree with you... the Shadow Temple and the Bottom of the Well are CCCCCCCCCCRRRRRRRRRRRRRRREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Heck, when I first got to Arbiter's Grounds in Twilight Princess, when I first saw that one redead that was hidden behind a revolving door, I jumped!!!
Plus that one temple in SS is creepy too, particularly the lower areas and the monsters that inhabit it!
Still, cause of the nature of my new evildoers that appear in my comic, and cuz these areas are so dang eerie, they're probably going to make an appearance. Why keep the scariest places down when they could make a comeback and give ya one last good scare!!! Ā Ā Ā Ā

Dark, sinister and eerie...
Walls of skulls and remains...
ReDeads moaning and could be anywhere...
The 'Dead Hand'...
The traps, torture devices, illusions, and bloodstains everywhere...
All of this in an E-Rated game.Ā The Shadow Temple was absolutely evil in every sense of the word o__o
Also awesome drawing
The ReDead being half-concealed in the shadows there while Link stares in horror at the torture table just makes it all the more amazing ^^

Ahh man, I remember watching my childhood friend playing through that temple; when he entered the temple during evening, he saved the game and turned it off to wait for the next day (he didn't want to do it before sleep!) I was none the wiser... I didn't thought much of it when he did it, but when I did it myself later, I realized how scary it was! Those damn floor master coming from the ceiling scared the hell out of me (I must have spent my WHOLE full magic bar with the din fire to make sure to burn that monster!) Heck! As soon as I got the hover boots I left that creepy temple to do the spirit temple first!
Now I can do it easily whole without being scared! I eventually give myself the challenge now to make the whole temple WITHOUT the lens of truth (I manage to make it all to the boss' door but can't cross the final invisible floor maze...)
You did an AMAZING job with this image! I heard of that in the first place this temple was meant to be called the "Darkness temple" (in opposition to the light temple), but that there might have been a error during the translation, although that temple is the "shadow" of the death mountain (located underneath).

Yeah. But still .. not reeeeeal temples in my view. xP I guess Ice cavern could be done because at least it has a different environment (the project was to practice different enviroments with my water colours), The Well is a bit too much like the Shadow temple I think ...
But this was a logn time ago now. If I'm ever gonna draw more Zelda-places I'll just use a different game.

haha. when I first saw the shadow temple I was very little. and I wasn't even the one playing it. it was my brothers. I liked watching them go through this place. but back then I only saw small parts. I wasn't allowed to play it myself till I was like 6 or 7. and when I did. I took one step into the temple. one step. I was freaked out and warped out. I was too scared to just turn around. (thought something would come and grab me from behind.) finally, years ago. I think I was 12 and I had watched an LP for it on YouTube for the first time and I gathered up my courage and walked in that place again. following that LPers every move and did everything he did. (his username is Uzimachi1.) I love that place now. but never like stray from what I watched that guy did. I fell down a hole in this one room once and saw tons of redeads, got freak out an warped away again and went to the water temple to cool off. (that's my top fave temple btw.)
I can get through the Shadow temple perfectly now. but the bottom of the well still scares me shitless to the point of wanting to cry and just warp out. but I was forced to further explore the whole thing because of Master Quest. T_T

Haha, no, not really. I'd say they're about the same (though I've beaten Zelda many more times so its naturally less scary now). Except Silent Hill. I put down the controller after 5 minutes and never touched it again.

Oh god, the Shadow Temple..
The dungeon became an even bigger nightmare for me when I played it last year than it was when I was a kid asdihsdfkd-
So many details in that dungeon that alluded to death and the monsters, I absolutely dreaded going through it and even now, I would hate to play through it |D;; (this and the well *shudders*)
I am liking your interpretation on it though
Link's morbid reaction towards all the devices found in there pretty much reflected mine when I saw them..

Oh man. xD
I recently discovered a week or so ago that I had never beaten this temple as a little kid. I had never /truly/ beaten OoT BECAUSE of the Shadow Temple. It must have scared me that bad. xD
I do remember standing in the entrance to the temple and just listening to the creepy music and thinking, "Nope. Guess I can't beat the game."
So.
I beat it today.
Omg. Nightmares forever. And I'm 16, so I feel like a wimp. e3e You should have seen my reactions going through it, though. I jumped every time I opened a door. x3 That temple is traumatizing. You caught the creepy dark aura perfectly!! Bravo on that!

Hmm, I always found the shadow temple enchanting. Just playing zelda's lullaby and this floating ship...starts to move on the open air. And bongo-bongo was always a cool boss.
But the well...now the well scared me as a kid, haha. Those invisible holes.

you, sir, must be one of a kind. sure, the floating ship could be enchanting ... if it wasn't for the skeleton warriors trying to kill you. D: Though Bongo-bongo is a good boss (an probably the hardest one in the game)
Yeah, the well was horrible too, but it was okay since you don't HAVE to walk through everything and run into re-deads.

again, just use your arrows
i hit both his hands with arrows (when he attacked) then pegged him in the eye with another arrow as soon as it opened, which allowed me to do massive damage, as the was no delay from when he was stunned to when i hit him.

Ha! I don't say that simply to counter your point. But like I said, the well hella-scared me, like piss-scared. Fighting that dead hand miniboss as little link. And when the hands grabbed you and he slowly but surely walked over to bite you....
For me, the well was like the shadow temple for you. And it's nonlinear, unpredictable format didn't help!
