Description So I've changed some of these pictures a bit .. to give them a transparent background, so I've changed the format to png but ... why does the colours become so bright and weird when I upload it here? D: Why, DA, why?

The shadow temple ... man .... Resident Evil, Eternal darkness, Silent Hill in all its honor. But they've got nothing on the frigging Shadow temple. Have anyone ever played this as a kid and not being scared for life? I think not. I think it took me a year go get through this hell-hole ... And even these days I feel uneasy whenever I think of it, so I tend to hurry past it.

And I think I kinda hurried past the picture too. But the creepy thing with the shadow temple was the suspense, knowing that behind every next door there could be a re-dead waiting for you. So yeah .. it became kinda dark. Anyway. Made it sometime in November.

Wanna see the other temples? They are right here.

yeaah, dead hand was creepy. But I mostly found him frustrating. At least it didn't make creepy noises like the re-dead. D:

I get what you mean though. I liked the non-linear way though, because it allowed me to complete the well quickly (didn't give it enough time to traumatize me). I don't think I actually searched it through properly until like two years ago. It IS hella creepy.

haha, it's all right. xD but yeah, that's exactly how I feel. And still I'll turn off the lights whenever I'm in there just to make the torture even worse.

i hate redeads, dead hands, wallmasters, gibdos, stalfos and pretty much every other enemy from the shadow temple, it was scary, the music was scary, the enemies were scary, and overall it was just scary! DX

Same here. First time I got to the temple I re-started the game because I just couldn't stand it.

I turned off the volume because of the scary music. ^_^ The ship was pretty cool though! This was the hardest boss I thought. It was like the Master Hand of Super Smash Bros. X2

This temple, unfortunately, was the most emotionally traumatic, yet my favourite of any temple of the series aside every single one on majora's mask, and the forest temple. I guess it's the mentally warping music, or the surplus of redeads, or the altogether creepiness. This made me want to play it again! Or be the wimpy loser I am, and just watch a walkthrough, while hiding under a pillow XD

Wow, really? I never heard of anyone who actually loves this temple before. I don't like being in there, but it IS probably the most memorable temple ever in a Zelda game (guess traumatic experiences are harder to forget), so I would never want it to be removed. c:

hah...I'm a weird, gruesome minded kid
The strange thing is, one of the only games on the wii I enjoy is kirby's epic yarn; it's the cutest game ever, but I love freaky, and mentally warping games as well...
I guess it is just the trauma from it that makes me so fond. I'm playing it tomorrow for halloween, and seeing if it's as scary as it once was. I would cry if it was removed from the game, it's the prick of the game, the main weird thing. Apparently at the end of the ganondorf fight (part 1), he coughed up blood on the gold cartridges, but a bunch of parents freaked out, and they changed it to green goo on the grey cartridges. I have a grey cartridge D:

Yeah, I heard about that as well. never noticed the green goo until later years though and was all "woah, blood in a nintendo-game! I bet it was red in the Japanese edition". It's like the original song from the fire temple that got censored because some people thought the choir was singing "Allah". it's a shame, because that tune was quite good.

I was thinking of buying Kirby's epic yarn (I Love Kirby and the crystal shards), but never got around to do it ... and now I'm saving me for the next Zelda. Only completed 2 horror games though ... I'm such a chicken. xP

I never knew about that
Funny. On the game yoshi's story, it sounds like the chorus is singing "you a**hole", when its supposed to be singing "remember", not to mention the opening music is the christmas song "little drummer boy", but sung by yoshis. The soundtrack of that game left me banging my head on a concrete wall.
If you like unbelievably easy games, Kirby's epic yarn is probably a good choice. You can't really die, and the levels are super duper easy. Its too damn cute!
I'm very excited Skyward Sword. Though it seems a lot more whimsical (I really liked the shadowy gloomy and more mature aspect of Twilight Princess), the storyline sounds really good. Wow, I sound like a full fledged gamer XD
I'm a total wimp when it comes to horror games. I tried playing Amnesia: The dark descent a year ago with my friend at night during a thunderstorm in a dark room while we both had headsets plugged into the computer, and I ended up throwing my mouse at my computer, and hiding under my bed. Then there's dead space...

Hahaha, yeah I remember! Just noticed that Yoshi song this summer when I re-played it for the first time in years. xD I know, that soundtrack is so weird. I really like the game though.

Hmm, I do prefer games with at least a little bit of challange ... but I still enjoy superduper-easy games as long as they are fun.

Yeah, I kinda like the graphics of Skyward Sword, it's just the colour palette that's a little too bright (guess I could just make my tv-screen darker). I think it's a good thing that they are experimenting with it though. It's so boring when all the games go for dark realistic stuff all the time (don't get me wrong, I loved Twilight Princess' graphics .. and the game itself).

haha, yeah I've heard about that one. It's supposed to be like ungodly scary. xD (I managed to play like 5 minutes of a Silent HIll game once. biggest accomplishment ever)

It's disturbing, because I played that game when I was really little.
I've seen skyward sword's graphics, and they do seem really pretty, like a painting.
Amnesia is emotionally disturbing XD
I never play horror games just for that reason. They don't mess m up as badly as movies, I suppose 8)

I remember those torture devices. They really made me wonder what the Shadow Temple's original purpose was.

"The Shadow Temple- Hyrule's history of blood is written here." If I remember correctly.
Poor Link. XD

I always thought of it as some prison, probably built during some time of war. :d Or some crazy cult temple?

This is brilliant. You perfectly captured the mood of the Shadow Temple and it's symbolism of Hyrule's bloody past.

Oh Shadow Temple how you've scarred my childhood so. I seriously wanted to quit playing the game because of that temple and always got pissed off whenever I replayed it and got to that stage because I knew I get all freaked out. And those damn hover boots always made me slip off the edges of stuff and die XD

Qlockwork In reply to JillValentine89 [2010-12-21 22:50:26 +0000 UTC]

Bah, I even did quite playing it because of it. xD

And, man those hover boos. I thought they were so cool at first .. I mean, hovering, how awesome isn't that? But like you say, all you did was fall down and die. Terrible little things. :c
