Description

Nicknamed 'The Big Engine', the Pennsylvania Railroad S1 was one of largest Duplex-Drive locomotive ever built. But, this feat had a serious effect for the S1 in terms of route avalibility; as it was only able to reach Chicago, Illinois, Crestline and Ohio. The S1 was plagued with the same design faults as the T1s, the common one was it to wheelslip, which was caused as the weight of the locomotive is being supported by both the pilot & trailing axels; not the pistion-driven axels and thus causing alot of wheelslip.
