Description Hello friends, I return to give thou gifts of artistic endeavor and creative expression. I love armor design.

[Lore]
If you have been keeping up with my DeviantArt page (a big \ QwQ / if you did) I have gone slightly into my original species of the Death Spirits with my OC Luna Bellum. This specimen featured here is a death spirit the same as her.
If you are new to the concept, they are constructs made by the god of the dead Aoimonia to serve him as reapers of souls. They are incredibly dense and soak up heat and light as their source of energy instead of food, making them remarkably cold to the touch and featureless as their appearance is only that of a black silhouette, save for a few glowing spots on their surface called "vents" which remove excess energy in the form of light. Despite the name of "spirit", they are not ghosts or incorporeal, they are more similar to Oozes, and their "true form" is just a big puddle of inky goop. But they can shapeshift, if they touch any biological material, they copy their DNA into their memory and can take the shape of whatever creature they know of, allowing them to take many forms: humanoid, bestial, insectoid, plant, or a mixture of multiple species into whatever monstrosity the death spirit feels like being.
Humans do not like death spirits very much, too sp00py 4 them, but death spirit kind do not mind, they are simply looking for a way to spend their long lives and serve their father at the same time. One such method is through beating things up, which they are really good at because when you mix the best muscles and powerful anatomical features of multiple creatures together, you can become pretty strong.
Spirit Troopers are death spirits that have chosen to be weaponized in military applications by Corruption, the bad guy faction. Trained by their siblings and their Corruption employers, a special gift is given to them, the Spirit Trooper Armor. This is a suit of armor built for individual spirits and is designed with death spirits in mind (most death spirits just wear armor stolen off of defeated human enemies) and is completely unusable by humans. Acting as both protection and an ID, the armor is all one unit, with the flexible bits and solid armor connected together. It has a small hole in the back that looks like the fuel hole in a car that the spirit goes through and completely fills the inside of the suit in order to put it on. The suit protects them from the outside world, insulating them from moisture in the air that can be annoying, and stopping equally annoying gunfire, lasers, bombs, and missiles through thick plating that combined weighs over 1000 pounds.
The suit itself takes a humanoid shape as the designers have the most experience with such a shape and plays a psychological role in making human soldiers feel safe with working with a death spirit in their armor. But the other design element is that it looks scary to be a psychological warfare tactic against their enemies, since seeing a purple conquistador with glowing eyes and a skull shaped mask running at you like the Doom Slayer likely means that you're about to lose that fight.

[Art and Design]
I love armor design, as a kid I liked knights and fantasy (still do) and their armor, it is just cool man. But as I have seen armor presented in other forms of media both historical and fictional, the Astartes of 40k, the Spartans of Halo, the Chevaliers of France, the Landsknechts of Germany, and the Men at Arms of England, I wanted to get gud at making some myself for my favorite personal worldbuilding project and favorite original species. So I did.
I have had a clear vision of what I wanted the Spirit Troopers to be for a long time, it has been like this for years, in fact, I have some designs for the helmet alone that are relatively unchanged except in skill level all the back from 2020. But a full body is something that I could not pull off correctly until now after a long time of practicing in the medium and learning a lot on my journey.
But the suit itself is just something I thought was cool, they are meant to be monster-slaying badasses in power armor that could very well be comparable to super soldiers on the field and with a lot of influence from conquistadors and Doom. Maybe someday I will draw an image of these guys in action!
