If anyone wants to draw a humourous version of the "fanart" that they're looking at, send it in and I'll add it to this piece or link it!
So what got me to draw this? I was browsing through Marauder fanart and it was just how there was so much shit out there. I mean, no matter how well they're drawn or coloured, it's not right to portray James, Sirius and Remus as Greek Sex Gods while Peter looks twelve (if he's even there). I don't like him either, but he was still a part of the group. As for Lily, I don't think she's the sort to have a short skirt and an unbuttoned blouse... RESPECT FOR THE MARAUDERS PLEASE!
In all fairness there are some artists that do them justice though
Anyway this was a great excuse to FINALLY draw the Marauders. I LOVE them, but I never draw them! Except Lily and James. So yeah... wow, the first I've ever attempted with these guys. Pretty significant. It was a rush job overall, and I can draw better but ah well. I'm real lazy when it comes to drawing. I'll work on that.
You know what, JKR did a good job for the Golden Trio, but as for the Marauders, they're a bit TOO perfect. She kinda portrays telented and good looking = good and "less talented" and ugly/plain = bad with the Marauders. And she seems to love red heads (Weasleys/Lily/Young Dumbledore) and dislike blondes (Peter, Malfoys, Dursleys/Grindlewald). Why JK. Why dis my hair colour? ResPECT. Haha (funnily enough she's blonde now too....?)

hahaha, i never noticed that until now. I may not have blonde hair but i still think there should be respect for for all hair colors. Especially since alot of people make fun of brunt=ettes*cough cough me cough*

I totally agree though, people should give Peter more love. I think he's kinda cute-ish. Yup, it's kinda ridiculous that the Marauders are all perfect, but I sorta like that. And, Merlin, so, true! I wonder how she feels about dark hair...

Yeah peter was the most.. human. I mean, realistic, anyway. Remus was too, but James, Sirius and Lily were way too cool and perfect and that.
And if you mean dark hair as in dark brown or black? You have Harry, James, Sirius, Snape, Tom Riddle etc etc ALL the really cool ones!
I think she subconsciously stereotypes people by their hair. Although out of all the blondes, I most agree with Hannah Abbott - I'm totally her. A hufflepuff who is a total perfectionist to the point of stuffing up exams from the stress!

Remus looks a bit too fascinated with his abs...but I like how u portrayed their reactions. And just a small piece of advice before anyone calls u out on hypocrisy, try drawing Remmy with a bandage or some such thing on his face.

Well to me, I don't picture him as always having scars or bandages etc. I mean, sure he's shabby and looks ill sometimes, but it's only once a month. The scars aren't prominent or in some cases permanent, and he would only need bandages right after the full moon.
Though, thinking back to when I did this, maybe I just forgot to add scars.

But that sounds like Twilight. Because Meyers obviously agreed with the above. Twilight could have had potential...
Anyway, yeah, I think it's sweet that Snape loved her, and JKR *did* say they may have both fallen in love with one another had Snape chosen the right path, but it's still betraying James and all that. And people give Ginny crap for "always loving harry" while dating other people - but at least she moved on with her life!!!!

Remus is meant to be "greyer, more lined". JKR fault is that every description of poor Remus is like that. Somehow fans think this is cute. Which leads him to be the vulnerable puppy dog eye type, which leads him to be the secretly hot behind that facade, which leads to greek god in hiding... you catch my drift. Fan girls get carried away...

lol so true! I was looking for some good drawings of the Marauders and in the 90% of them Peter is missing. I mean, I know he betray them, but he was part of the group too... and there's also a lot of really long haired Sirius-es. Common guys, he had long hair, but wasn't emo or some kind of... pirate!

Poor Peter. I don't think he was evil pre-Harry, just a tag-along. People should give him a break, he hasn't done it yet! You'd think Remus and Sirius would be more concerned about how they is most likely "with" each other.

Nah... Neville didn't surround himself with people he admired to better his status. He had some honour. I suppose they both appeared useless (although even Peter proved a bit more of himself in the magic department)

Well, I really like Neville, and he is without a doubt better than Peter, but Peter displays similar characteristics to a first-year Neville (in my opinion), he just grew up to be someone better. I think Peter had the potential to turn out good, (he was in Gryffindor after all, the sorting hat clearly wanted to give him a chance) it just didn't work out.

Okay, quidwitch, I was just reading through the comments on your (brilliant) piece of art, and did you just compare the Marauders to TWILIGHT?! Oh no ya don't! They are not like Twilight at at all! And I don't see them as being perfect at all. Sirius and James were serious (uh, no pun intended) jerks when they were younger! And Sirius always had a kind of self-destructive streak, even as an adult. Remus is definitely not perfect... I think his biggest flaw is that he's sometimes afraid to take action... so he just stood by when S&J did stuff he didn't approve of... and then when he was older he was afraid to risk being with Tonks... *shrugs* Plus he always seems kind of sad and has low self-esteem, and not in a sexy Byronic hero kind of way, just in a trodden-down kind of way. *hugs Remus* Can you tell Remus is my favorite Marauder? Though I do love them all... Well, not Peter so much... but even Peter I do feel for. I think people don't give him enough credit for having a good side. Anyway I'll stop rambling now, haha. But the point is that the Marauders are not perfect, and they are NOT like Twilight!!

Haha! I love your enthusiasm! No, I agree, I should never have related them to twilight (such a sin!!) But regardless, I was referring to how they were all good looking and talented etc. Sure, they had their flaws, but when you think about it, every guy probably wants to be like them, every girl wants to date them. That's true in the fan world for Remus and Sirius. That was kind of what I was talking about. They're no saints, but they're definitely less realistic than say, the golden trio.

Haha, I am always enthusiastic when it comes to the Marauders! (Well, scratch that, I'm pretty enthusiastic about HP, period.) And you compared them to Twilight! Sacrilege! *le gasp* I do see what you're saying about how they were all good-looking and talented, and that in comparison to Peter JKR seems to be sending the message that good-looking + smart = good. Personally, I never pictured Remus as being strikingly gorgeous, I pictured him as being good-looking, but not in a way where you'd necessarily notice at first. And as for James, I never understand why people think he was this Adonis mega-hunk. Yeah, I'm sure he was nice-looking, but it says he looked pretty much just like Harry, and no one in fandom seems to think Harry was super-gorgeous. Now, Sirius it does say was strikingly handsome, but it was always my impression that the Marauders were popular because they were funny and had charismatic personalities, kind of like Fred and George. Turning them into some clique who ruled the school by being gorgeous seems wrong to me.
About Peter... I've kind of always thought of him and Neville as being foils to each other. Like, Neville was also less talented and good-looking than his friends, but he chose to work on himself and be the best he could be, and he ended up being an amazingly brave, loyal and good man, who was well-liked and respected by all his friends.... whereas Peter chose to let the insecurity and jealousy corrupt him. *shrugs* That's always how I viewed it anyway. That it's more about your choices, and about how you use the talents you DO have.

Oh, except one thing you forgot to mention - they were still bullies. They were popular bullies (well, sans Remus). So that says something too.

Yeah, the Marauders were absolutely bullies, no question about it. And Remus just stood by and watched, which makes him almost as bad. To be honest, that's the one reason that I can't call myself a whole-hearted Marauder fangirl. They get kudos for growing out of it, and I get that a lot of people are jerks as teens, but nevertheless they were cruel to someone weaker than they were, and I just can't get behind that. I wish JKR had given us more information about it. Was Snape the only one they treated that way? Or did they pick on lots of unpopular kids? If it had to do with Snape specifically, why? Why did James REALLY hate Snape so much? (Puh-leez, I don't buy "It's because he exists" for a moment.) Was it jealousy because Snape was so close to Lily? Hatred because Snape was a thoroughly unpleasant Death Eater-wannabe? What made James and Sirius mature around sixth/seventh year? Was it the war? The death of James' parents? Just natural growing up with age? There are so many unanswered questions. I wish JKR had let us know more, LOL.
