Description
Well, here's Guula again. I guess I'm on a Gremlin kick...or maybe I just needed someone for practicing movement when I sketch.I used this stock: [link] by to get her body posture right. I'm very proud of how the skirt and movement came out...but I screwed up her face. So, I added a mask, so it would be less noticeable. You really can't notice, right?
This particular kind of Gremlin is copyrighted the Classic Disney Novels. True fact!

It's a challenge--to see if I can get proper movement on paper. I thought about the hand, too. She may be holding a fan in my version.

I'll probably draw that pose tomorrow, if DA shuts down in protest of the SOPA bill. It would give me something to do.

I saw it too, and I don't if I will either. I mean I can draw for the rest of it, but should I even log in? I always log in to see if someone has commented and stuff

If I participate, I won't even log in. I'll do my comments another day.
But then, I don't usually get as many comments as most people.

Eh, it's okay. Exams are over for me, unless I go back to college. Right now, it's finding a better job. I do sympathize with your exams though.

Yeah. This economy is rough right now. But, if history has taught us anything, it's that the decades go through ups an downs. There may be a time of intense wealth--like the 1920's--followed by a time of poverty--like the 1930's. And, things just work their way back up or down.
We're in a time when the economy is a little down. Hopefully, it will start climbing back up soon.

Heeeeeey sketchy art from you! I don't think I've seen you post any pencil art since I've been watching you Couple of abstract muros was mostly it, I believe
I like how she turned out! Very sexy and good movement indeed. I love stock pose references SO MUCH.

Yeeaahh, sketchy art from me!
I actually used to sketch quite a bit. I'd taken drawing classes in college, and did pretty well, too. But I think I've kinda had a dry spell for the last 3 years or so (depression brought on from my job, I think). Lately I've been a bit inspired, and Guula came out of my musings.
And, yeah, stock images are awesome! You should check out this guy's dancer folder--all those women show real passion and flow in those pictures! And, thanks! I don't normally make sexy OCs--I prefer them to be physically flawed, like most women are--but, I knew from the beginning Guula was a professional dancer, so of course she'd have a sculpted body, from years of moving those muscles.
I have plans to sketch her in some more animated poses. The kind where the muscles and perspective is a bit more twisted, like these: [link] [link] Some might be a challenge with the hair, though...

Realllllly old reply (I'm getting into January now, woohoo, and after that - I still have things from before 2012 that I may reply to if I don't decide it's just too ridiculously late XD); I do hope you manage to get to drawing more of these pics with Guula, the stock shots you linked to are amazing and I'd love to see them done.
And, I totally get your point on Guula's body type. If you have a *reason* for a character to look how she does then it makes sense to have her physically "perfect"; it's just nice to have a variety of body types. I'm always so on the fence with that, since it's been a deliberate choice to have Beth be skinny (although a bit on the hippy side, which I can't resist, because i like hips) - but with society's "expectations" of womanhood I feel like I'm selling her short by doing that (which is awful of me). I also have never really bothered to study the body type I'm trying to draw, so although I *do* make sure she's longer and thinner than others and try never to play up her bust (unless there's a reason, like with the blue dress pics where she's got a push-up bra on), it's less obvious, especially if she's the only character in the pic, what I'm going for with her. In contrast, Henny is much, much rounder and fuller-figured and I intend her to be the slightest bit plump, but again, I dont' really know how to draw that.
I think I'll make that a goal, if not for this whole year then for the end of the year, to study body types. Then I'll have to figure out how to make them cartoony, though... argh so much to do XD
But I love your dedication to real-woman "flaws", aka individuality.
