Description It's Guula again! The dancing Fifinella based off Disney's and Roald Dahl's Gremlins.

Guula is a native to the Bermuda Triangle (yeah, the mystery's solved--all those plane and ship disappearances can be blamed on the Gremlins--just as they were during WWII. XD ). She's tiny, like a regular Fifinella, but some people credit her kind's more human-like appearance to the rumor that her ancestors intermarried with fairies long ago--giving rise to a more elongated body shape. Of course, no one can confirm or deny this story.

And, here's the pose reference used: [link] by

Sigh, I can find so much wrong with this pic, but I don't want to point them out. Just please be kind in the comments.

Thanks! The skirt was the biggest problem--all those bits of cloth. I wanted to make them look natural, so I decided to let them twist in a swirly pattern around her legs. Her face was also a problem--Fifinellas sometimes don't have a visible nose, so a profile was difficult. I decided the best way to fix it was to let her hair fall in front of her face. It showed better movement, anyway.

And, I love flowy-things.

I keep saying this, but one of these days I'm going to do some kind of actual legitimate study of fabric and flowy things. I completely make it up when I draw it and I know it could look way more amazing if I had some idea of what I was doing...

The swirly pattern of the cloth bits is one of my favourite things in this pic

Well...one of the reasons I'm familiar with body perspective and fabric folds is because I spent a few semesters in life drawing classes. Sitting on a stool and drawing humans for about 2 hours every other day really pays off in the long run. But, I'm also familiar with a few books that cater to showing someone how fabric is supposed to fall and flow over a human body. I'd be happy to dig them up and give you the titles if you'd like. A lot of them are just pictures you can look at and alter/copy. But, I think some also explain the 'science' of it--how something's supposed to look if it's draped over something else.

And, we have lots of lovely stock images here on DA. Maybe you could find a few pics from the gallery I'm using as references to practice on.

And, thanks!

Your spelling and grammar in your writing is rather...unusual compared to most English speakers I've seen. Why is that?

(if you want, I can hide your answer, so no one else has to see it.)

So, I'm wondering if you have dyslexia?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

manyworlds090 In reply to QuoteCentric [2012-03-09 16:58:13 +0000 UTC]

what's dyslexia?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

QuoteCentric In reply to manyworlds090 [2012-03-10 04:35:11 +0000 UTC]

Dyslexia is a learning disability in reading and writing. People with dyslexia can have normal or even very high intelligence, but they have trouble identifying letters or words correctly. Sometimes, they may even see letters backwards (like, they'd see a 'b' as a 'd'). Some people are so dyslexic that they can't read at all.

There's nothing wrong with this condition, and I've heard of people who have managed to overcome or compensate for it.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

QuoteCentric In reply to manyworlds090 [2012-03-11 04:40:44 +0000 UTC]

And, you've just shown another symptom of dyslexia: spelling a word like it sounds rather than how it's actually spelled--you wrote 'enteresting', instead of 'interesting'.

It make me wonder if you do have dyslexia, or something similar. I'm not a doctor, so I don't know for sure, but that explanation could help me understand you better.
