Description J'lartha character concept by

This is Jill's Xeno Praetorian, J'lartha. I was thinking of old computers while I was coloring this... How many of you guys are old enough to remember when GREEN was the only color on the screen?

I was also inspired by the Alien3 logo on the DVD cover - I love this particular green - Kelly green, perhaps - and I think it suits the Xenos rather well. I hope Jill doesn't mind if I decided to go with something other than shiny-and-black.

This is the last of the pictures where I used Prismacolor pencils on toned (and textured) paper.

Heh. Β It does, at that. Β I am not familiar with the character or the game, so the resemblance was entirely coincidental. Β Or I was plugged into the overmind; that happens sometimes. Β

I'm diggin' the green/black colors. Though, I think my favorite part is the dancing alien!!! hee hee!

*holds up hand* I remember those screens. And I know there are still some of those down with the tandem accelerator.... Talk about bad flashbacks....

I tried the toned-textured paper thing once. ... I shall never speak of that again.

This is really great. Plus, it's an alien. The colors are just spliffy.

Lol I remember the Green Only stuff cause my 2nd grade teacher used to have one with big floopy discs nearby that had simple games on them.
The pic itself is awesome though.

Yeah, 5 1/2 INCH floppies! Wow - I'm pretty impressed that there's anyone around who remembers that stuff. Granted, it wasn't THAT long ago... But elementary school and the Apple IIe's of Doom were 20 years ago for me.

Ah, yes! Green and black screens! I actually have two 'antique' systems (an Informer Data Terminal and an Apple IIe) that have the good ol' green screen. Ah, the simpler days. ;>

As always, awsome job on the praetorian! w00t!

The "green screen" computers I'm talking about are something like 20 years old.

I'm not sure I remember the ones you're talking about, but in primary school I remember the computers being green-and-black, white-and-black or orange-and-black only. I think they had old computers though since I'm not yet 20 and I think we had a bit more advanced colour screen.
