~moldycheese wanted to color this creature before I attack it with my ink shading, so here is the line art by itself, posted for our collective entertainment.

Very cool concept, you are teh best!
I love the feet, and the things sticking out of it's back...

Thanks very much!
I wanted it to look Alien-esque without being a Giger Alien, and it still needed to keep the salient features that Terry originally drew for it. Difficult balancing act, that...

Actually, the part that's confusing me a bit is its head. I'm not quite sure where it's eyes are... if it has any!
I do like the tube things coming of its ribcage though, unless that is its ribcage

LOL LOL - It's a very alien design, but that's intentional.
The shading will clear up a lot of the details around its head. It does, in fact, have four large compund eyes (the upper and lower left ones of which are visible) and five simple eyes (on its snout).

Whoa. Talk about creativity. I saw the word "Martian" when you popped up in my devWATCH and... Well, this isn't a little green man. It's an... um... Alien.

HA!
This also isn't a "native" of Mars, per se. In Terry's universe, they've been on Mars for several tens of thousands of years - "naturalized citizens," if you will. The particular Alien-ness is something that Terry had in the original design (though much more rudimentary), and which I kept and modified for this drawing.

Heh. Most likely!
Terry's original idea was that this species lived in a huge "jungle gym," so they had to be able to climb all over the place.

Very nice line quality..I get a little lost in the torso..take photoshop and drop some grey tones in there and it will make a lot more sense...but its minor...great work...

Thanks.
I plan to do a full ink shading on this Martian - I know that it's still a little bit vague, especially where the legs and arms are folded around under its torso. Moldycheese wanted me to post the lineart before I did the shading so that she could color it.

I studied coloring books in order to get my lineart to look better. Art Nouveau coloring books, specifically, because they're insanely detailed.
Glad you like it! Link me up when you get it colored, and I'll plug for you on the finished piece.

Thanks! I like 'em before I add the shading quite a bit; there's always this sneaky little doubt in the back of my mind that says, "You know, maybe you should just call it finished *now* before you go muck it up..." And then I come back and say, "Naaaah. I know what I'm doin'. Or at the very least, I can fake it!"
