Edit, September 2015:..........................................................................................................................................................................................................................................
This is one of those pieces that worked well even before I shaded it with all those little dots. Rather than erasing all of them, I decided to use a printout of the original pencil drawing and re-inked it with my pens. Here's the shaded version for comparison:

Please be sure to read the description. Conditions have changed for some of these designs. Not all of them are available for coloring as freebies any longer.

Wow! Awesome work integrating the bone elements with the (relatively) normal dragon elements! I've seen a few bone dragons but never one that combines bone and flesh so harmoniously.

The idea came from my brother-in-law. He wanted a tattoo design that showed a koi with both scales and rib bones showing, and the artwork I made was so well-received that I thought it would be fun to try out the flesh-and-bone imagery with other creatures. I plan to do several more in the Harmony of Bone series - at least enough to use all of the Chinese elements.

You're welcome. I showed my husband told him this one would make a lovely tattoo like so many of your other pictures!

Yes, I think narrow cropping down the middle wouldn't even hurt the overall design that much.

Yeah. It would look cool as silver embossed on black leather.

I certainly hope so! It's one of the simpler designs that I've finished up lately - the post-work in Photoshop took me less than an hour this morning.

Yes, it feels like an old wood cut or illuminated manuscript.
