This dragon looks so neat all dotted out. I didn't even realize it was cut out until I read your description... Very impressive! Such steady hands! I would have butchered the thing... o__o

Thanks very much!
Yeah, it's hard to get that three-dimensional effect to show up digitally since the background is already so dark. Β I might tweak it a bit to see if I can get the two layers to separate a bit more. Β
...Yes, I have very steady hands. Β I ended up doing a lot of X-acto knife work in college, so I got all my wobblies out of my system way back then. Β Β Even so, if I make a mistake, I just correct it with edge trimming and a little bit of reworking of the shading (though I don't think that happened this time; I've had it happen with some of the full-color stuff).

Well if you did that, I guess it wouldn't hurt.
I did some x-acto knife work in college too... but I always did something that butchered the image. xD;;; Well, anyway, good for you not having that problem! haha...

The black and white really provide a lovely stark contrast with this.

LOL - Thanks. Β I generally only post the good stuff. Β Believe me, there are plenty of stinkers in my art pile. Β

What - that's crazy detailed - especially for stippling!

LOL - Thanks. Β It's an interesting challenge to bring out the details with all those dots. Β

This is absolutely gorgeous. Β I have a love-hate relationship with stippling, but dang, does it pay off when you don't let it defeat you. Β Amazing work as always! Β Thanks for sharing.

Thanks very much!
Yes, stippling is definitely a technique that must be handled carefully - and in small doses. Β

Your colored work is so rich and vibrant, but I'm always amazed at your stippling skills as well. It's a much cooler piece, but with no less depth or detail. I'm impressed you don't go nuts with those zillion tiny dots or mess them up, but the effect is worth the effort. And ooh, Mexican opal! I've always loved opals.

Thanks!
It's definitely a different kind of piece when compared to all of my full-color stuff. Β I like playing with this texture, though. Β
...And who says I wasn't nuts already...? Β

Very, very nice! I love both the stippling and the background. I also like how you did the border. It really makes the dragon pop out from the rest of it.Β
I for one really like stippling projects. It's almost therapeutic...

Yes, when taken in relatively small doses I find stippling projects to be therapeutic as well. Β
