Oh, would you mind if I attempted to colour it?

Would I be wrong in saying that your art reminds me of Alex Grey? The guy who does a bunch of the cover art for TOOL's albums.
Very very neat and cool stuff, that requires a lot of patience i bet

I don't think I match Alex Grey's impressive degree of weirdness, but I will certainly accept the comparison as a compliment - Thanks!
Yes, these do require a lot of patience - and very short working periods.

He is weird. Very weird.
But then again, find me an artist who isn't haha!

I love all three of these... they would be beautiful as tattoos! Your inkwork is awesome.

Thanks very much!
The first one actually was a tattoo design for my brother-in-law, while the second and third were just art trades with my friends. I decided to keep "tattoo" in mind for the whole series, though, so the latter two could definitely work as such!

Haha! Wish I could say it was a typo, but it was my mind taking over
You can probably expect more colourings from me soon, I just love colouring your line arts! They're so much fun!

No problem You're just amazing at drawing!
Thinking of colour schemes for all these creatures is the best part!

Thanks very much. These strange creatures are lots of fun to draw, but the shading sure does take some patience!

I always love the amount of detail you manage to put into all your work. Love the stylized look of this and the designs to it.

Thanks very much. It's actually rather meditative, drawing and dot-shading a piece like this.

I think the dot-shading aspect of it would drive me crazy. Or at least make me never want to do such again. lol Though it certainly pays off apparently. o.O

I love the stipulations (that's what the dots are called, right? I suddenly can't recall...). It adds more depth to the picture.
That'd be one scary fish to catch and haul out of the water.... "I got one! I got--EEEEEK! PUT IT BACK! PUT IT BACK!"

Stippling! You're very close.
LMAO - Yeah, but you probably wouldn't have to worry about it too much, they're *harmonic* fishies... :3

I find that I have to use it to get particular effects, rather than using it as a simple shading medium. And only every great once in a while, at that. Thank you!

This looks like one of those fine etchings you often see on display in museums.^^ It reminds me a lot on Rembrandt.

Aww, thank you. I would not place myself into such company as Rembrandt, though... He was too much the genius!

almaticani In reply to rachaelm5 [2010-06-28 20:43:58 +0000 UTC]
Well I can't say I disagree about the part that he was a genious, but you don't fall behind that much.^^
Of course you are working with different tools than him, he had bras plates and etching needles, yours are much more different.^^
