Heeeere fishy fishy fishy fishy! *plop*
Great stuff, I like how ribbon-like the fish is and the fluid swirlies behind him. Some of those scales kind of look like a rib cage, which is also keen. Also... pointillism FTW!

Thanks!
LOL LOL LOL - I'd wondered if someone would bring Ernie's fish call into this...
Those scales along the fish's dorsal ridge are, in fact, rib bones. Not *fish* rib bones, mind you, but rib bones nevertheless.

Peri doesn't have any of the Cthulhu-themed pottery up on his website right now, but it's absolutely elegant stuff. One could have a whole kitchen's worth of ceramicware with a Cthulhu theme, and indeed, that's exactly where I'm headed. The stoneware is beige-white with a greenish-black glaze used for the figurative work. I see his work at just about every SF/Fantasy convention I visit, and when he started sending Cthulhu pieces, I just about did one of those fan-girl squeees I was so happy.

LOL - That's a truth! It's tedious to use those little dots for all of the shading, but it is like meditation also.

The detail on this is simply stunning, from the spines and curves of the fins / crest to the design of the head and scales. Strangely, the first thing that caught my eye about this was the strip of curved scales running through itβs middle, and the wonderfully flowing curve of the crest at itβs back, but then...well, I can safely say that I canβt pick out a favourite part XD
Oh, how I wish I had the money / means to commission you.

Thanks very much. I'm glad those bony rib bits are doing the job I intended them to do - they caught your eye and moved it through the composition! Always good when my plans work as designed.
Save your pennies. I'll be around for a good long while yet. Or, we could always do an art trade.

So that's what you were after? That's good!
Believe me, I'm intending to. Maybe i'll be able to buy something in a year or two...If i'm lucky ^^
Really!? I'd love to! But...I don't really think that I'm a good enough artist to do a trade with someone as skilled as you are :/

Whatever you are comfortable doing, I'm willing to go arm-in-arm. I do trades with folks at all different skill levels, and when I do trades, I like to CHALLENGE you. Think on it, and if you're up for a trade, then I'll stick you on my journal's list.

There's definitely some fossil-fish influence going on here, though I hadn't thought about it consciously until you mentioned it. I think I'll have to explore that further...

Thanks very much!
I go back and forth about stippling. After I finish a project like this I'm ready to be DONE with stippling for a while. After a few weeks' rest, I'm all excited to get back into all the dots again. You know how it is.
