My Predatory friend ~RakaiThwei is probably the most patient club administrator I know - especially considering the fan base with which he's burdened. I ask a whole lot of questions. I make a whole lot of idea proposals. And he hasn't killed me yet.I made it into the ranks of the Honored in the ~avpalternative community and I wanted to make a picture to both commemorate the event and to thank Rak for putting up with my nonsense. Thanks, Friend! I appreciate it.

It's been rather a trip down memory lane while I've gone through hundreds of "orphaned" artworks in the group gallery. It's also surprising how many of them are "lost" now, with dead user galleries being the main cause. I think about a quarter of the images have been that way. The rest I've been able to hunt down one way or another, though, and I'm within 500 or so of getting the migration finished. We had close to 1300 to start with!

Your predator pictures are always inspiring me to draw predators too, but I am..kinda scared of trying..

Awww, don't be scared of trying. They are complex art subjects; this is true. But most of the difference is in the head. Save that bit for last. The framework is humanoid enough that any human reference (especially if you find good pics in muscle fitness magazines, or if you find good photos of dancers (which is my personal preference)) will serve you to set up a Predator's musculature. Armor style is pretty open on the whole; there has been a veritable explosion of stylistic changes that have come up in the comics, and just as many among the fan community. Give it a try! I'll be glad to help you out if you would like.

This is the sort of artwork that makes me want to try and draw preds. I fear they are a little out of my range though *cringe*. Ah, well, as least I can satisify myself by admiring you talents. Beatuiful pic by the way! Absolutely love the detail you put into it...

I got started drawing Preds way back in 1992 by studying the comic books closely. In particular, I'd say get ahold of any of the Pred stories drawn by Chris Warner or Randy Stradley. They did several of the early comics for the Predator and Alien versus Predator universes, and in my less-than-humble opinion, I still think they're among the very best. They know their muscular anatomy and they do a really good job on the armor. The collection called "Predator volume 1" is probably still available. The original "Alien versus Predator" may also still be available. Those two are the best.

o.O KEWL! Believe it or not, but the shading and inked figures look awesome in front of the simple lined/white silhouttes in the background. The contrast between detail and simplicty (lack of shading/flat shapes) works beautifully. That and as usual your shading and detail is great.

Thank you. Honestly, though, my hand finally gave out after I finished the figure on the right. I decided that it would still work compositionally if I left the background figures vague (and besides that, I hadn't asked permission to draw anyone else's character!), so I went ahead and called it finished at that point.
