Description
A light-hearted take on Alien versus Predator.I have absolutely NO IDEA what brought this on, other than some discussions I've had with several scientifically-minded friends about a methane/nitrogen-based respiration cycle.
I drew this as a quickie today with ink and markers. And no, I don't plan to start up a weekly series or anything like that. This was totally a lark!

I've got a "Xeno Response to Predator Humor" in the works. I had to be fair to both species on this one - the balloon animals thing was just to odd (and fun) an opportunity to pass up.

I'd gotten a look at an early script idea for AvP, back around 1998-99. They had originally been fiddling with the original AvP story set on Ryushi (with Machiko and the broken-tusked warrior), but Ryushi would be a jungle world instead of a desert. The rest of the details were about the same - there was a lot of Colonial Marine action, as well as the uneasy comaraderie that developed between Machiko and the Predator. What we GOT, after waiting forever, was as close to campy as they could be without devolving into Batman-esque silliness.
*sigh*
I still think they should have gone with popular opinion and animated the damned thing. But ah well. I'll stick to writing my own stories, and with reading the stories of other, more worthy AvP authors.

Thanks! It's amazing what strange venues will inspire balloon animals - almost always they seem to be severely out of place.
...Wait until you see how I balance the equation... I managed to irk some of the Aliens fans with this goofy cartoon, so I'm making a "Xenomorph Rebuttal" that features many, many more balloon animals.

Glad you like this silly thing. I will definitely be working more with this manga/Animaniacs cartoon style. It seems to be getting a good reaction overall. My only worry is that now the Xeno fanclub is going to eat me alive. Gotta come up with a good rejoinder...

It is refreshing to see disarmed monster dudes sometimes! Not always that serious stuff with blood and violence (even though it can be cool too).

I have the Xenomorphic Response to "Predator Humor" written out. I will draw it in the coming weeks. It will more than even the score, and I think the Xeno community will really get a kick out of it. But I'd STILL love to see one of our Xeno artists draw up a comeback.

Hmm..I could try our drawing a xenomorph.. When I find time. I hate it when I'm busy..WHen I am not busy, and I have few free days, I don't want to spend those days on drawing. Thank goodness the summer holiday is coming...And my shitty summer job is in the beginning of it, so the rest of it is all freeeeedom!!

On the other hand, what if I threw down the gauntlet and challenged you to draw up a Xenomorph-appropriate response that includes a balloon-animal sight gag? 
I've been trying to think of something that I myself can do as a rejoinder to this Predator cartoon (for balance, you understand), but I am also hoping that one of our Xeno-focused fans would willingly offer a goofy comeback. We see lots of good and serious-themed artwork in the AvP niche. I personally want to see more well-done humerous stuff that capitalizes on the conceptual and visual themes introduced by the series. To that end, I'm trying my hand at the humerous stuff. I'm still learning how to present these kinds of ideas. My sense of humor is often obscure, so I'm hunting for more broadly-appealing or generally-familiar ideas that would work.

I'm a fan of both Aliens and Predator, though my drawing preferences lean more toward Predator. I have this thing about taking either universe too seriously, so I end up making artwork - more frequently of late - that pokes fun at both species.
I mess with both species liberally, and in good fun. No offense is intended.
