Description
The primary Predator deity I play with is not Cetanu the Death God, but one of my own additions to the pantheon - Paya Stegβaβctde - one of the lightning-and-thunder and blatant heroism types of gods. He's not a Thor or Zeus parallel; indeed, in my mind he comes across as a slightly less malevolent Loki-type guy, with a generous helping of Hindu mysticism. He's a decent enough god if you can deal with his odd sense of humor and his tendency to meddle in bloody everybody else's business.Yeah, he's one of those gods.
He's Chaunn's patron deity. He meddles with her quite a lot, because she had the temerity to teach him how to dance to the music of his own sound-garden when she was just a little sprat. (Chaunn said, "Dad! You won't BELIEVE the dream I had last night...")
Khan'nai, Chaunn's dad, is occasionally an avatar for the wily god (and often as not in tandem with Chaunn herself), much to Chaunn's amusement. Steg'a'ctde does NOT LIKE the proverbial tentacled creep, especially those of the Xothic (specifically Cthulhuian) variety. Consequently, Khan-cum-Steg is often off in far-flung corners of the universe squashing the squiddies.
Yes, I will work on stories that illustrate these points. I LIKE gods with senses of humor.
Technical note: I drew him half-nekkid so I could work out the wonky arm and torso anatomy. Like any of my personal Predators, his armor is going to be very, very elaborate. He's a god, after all. Gotta impress the kids.

Thanks very much - this one is among my favorites, too. I just never got around to making a polished portrait of this guy. Might have to one of these days - he's still pegged to my bulletin board.

Thanks very much!
I had some crazy plans for this guy, including letting him run loose on the mortal plane at the behest of one of my other Predator characters. Never got around to writing up the story, though, so he's waiting patiently on the back burners, twiddling his thumbs and making googy faces at me.

He's the kind of god who sings a merry tune while he's dicing his enemies. He's also the kind of god who will, for his own amusement, give one of his constituents (that is, one of the ordinary Yautja) some odd-ball "Gift" just to see what they do with it. He also likes to swap Tall Tales with the mortals when they're asleep at night (where he'll visit them in the Dreaming).

For some reason, this picture reminds of Tool's Lateralus and 10,000 Days album covers.
I think it's the eyes that got me thinking of that...

*Rachael looks up Lateralus* ...I see what you mean! I'm not a big Tool fan, though now that I recognize their iconography, I know I've seen the artwork on a couple of my siblings' tee-shirts. It must have leaked into my subconscious and then came back out again in small ways here. Plus, I was shooting for something that read slightly Hindu or Bhuddist anyway, and I had also been thinking of some of the statues of Lord of the Dance I've seen in art museums and in my history books.

I think it did leaked into your subconscious.
Pretty bizarre, huh?

I agree. There must be more Predator gods. I have a couple of Fallen Gods concepts I've been kicking around for quite a while, and I may try to flesh those out next. I'll definitely be doing a finished version of the Lightning God that you see here later on.

One can never have too many mandibles.

Thanks.
I figure the Pred-gods have got to be over-the-top - ultimate hunter or ultimate killer or what-have-you. More arms and more mandibles is a starting point.
This does bring the balance of the equation to mind, though. If the positive-aspect gods are this way, how horrific shall I make their shadows?
