Description
This picture is dedicated to , who is doing her own version of this rawkin' cool idea. I mean, c'mon! These are two of the baddest boys on the galactic block. We knew that sooner or later it would come down to competition between them. Who will win, and who will survive? It's a tough call!Done with ink, watercolor and Prismacolor pencils
I'm particularly pleased with this piece for a number of reasons:
1) Riddick's anatomy was tremendously fun to draw and shade. I love the trapezius, triceps and deltoid muscle groups, and I rarely get to do such a lovely shot of them like this.
2) I managed to color an entire picture without using ANY flourescent color effects. Look! LOOK! Earth tones! OMGSQUEE!

ho ho! this idea would be worth watching
On one corner we have a humanoid strong alien with a lot of fucking technology
And in the other we have the legendary riddick with his prefered wepons, his movie daggers.
i think if the predator had all his equipment riddick will sufer a lot....
but give him some space and riddick will beat the hell out of that alien.
I mean, Pitch Black? Butcher's Bay? (finished it yesterday lol). Riddick kicked some serious alien asses in those, i think a predator wont stand a minute against him.
[Predator's cloacking? Riddick can see that too hehe]
AWESOME WORK!

Hey, thanks a lot!
Though I'd probably cheer for both of 'em, I think Riddick has the advantage just for his sheer *coolness* factor.

I agree - this would be a story crossover worth seeing. If I can get it together later on, I'll at least try to bang a short story into shape.

This is such an awesosme idea! I'd love to see a movie with the two of them , it would be the ultimate badass movie
I wonder who would win, but I'm guessing on Riddick.

You're welcome
I love the Predators... They kick ass, but then again Riddick got the better of both those aliens and the necromongers...Hmm, it would be a hell of a fight, that's for sure But the best would be if they joined forces and went after the Aliens together
I HATE those buggers

Riddick and Predator versus Aliens... I can see a good story coming out of that idea, and I'd considered trying to put together a short story along those lines. I have some notes jotted down, but haven't had time to fully develop it. One day! One day, Riddick and some unsuspecting Predator will team up to kick some serious Alien butt.

Thanks! It's such a pity that they wouldn't do this kind of thing in the movies - haven't seen any fan films of a Riddic/Predator death match, either.
I'm also going to do a piece with Aliens and the hammerhead critters. Those guys are just *cool*.

Geeze I wish my imagination still worked! lol seems like you have some great ideas... Someone should start filming short fights or grudge matches between charaters of such in live action... that way you wouldnt need a real plot for a movie haha

Actually, I think that's pretty much been the consensus - NO ONE can decide whether Riddick or the Predator would win, so no one at all is placing any bets.
What a lovely trophy The Riddick would make though... *evil snicker*

LOL - In the Riddick versus the Bugs contest, my money would be on Riddick for sure. The critters from Pitch Black were an awfully lot like Aliens to begin with; it wouldn't be a far stretch of the imagination to send Riddick after some of Giger's bugs instead.

Whoa... This turned out AWESOME It's hard telling who's gonna win... Maybe it'll be a draw? I know how you can decide, though. Do a best-2-out-of-3 coin flip
And congrats on keeping the colors non-flourescent to add a realistic effect to the image! *offers Oreos and a Wal-Mart bag full of trophies* ^_^

Thanks very much - it's among my favorite images, despite the relatively simple composition. I haven't done many figures seen from behind like this, and I was particularly pleased with the way that Riddick's muscles turned out.
I'm considering writing a short story to go with this image, but I've got my work cut out for me getting inside Riddick's head... But I do know it's got to be from his rather cynical point of view. Nothin' else will do.

You know, I hadn't thought of the color scheme in quite THAT way... But I do so much in "Intergalactic Klein Blue" to begin with that I felt a change of scheme might be fun.
And thanks!

Thanks!
I particularly liked drawing this one for the poses - I was leafing through one of my anatomy books and caught this image of a fellow seen from the back and I just knew that I had to draw the muscles that way.
I need to work more with that blurry effect in color, though. As easy as it is to do in Photoshop, it takes some time to do properly with traditional media.

I say that the predator wins! If Riddick wins.. Then he can rightfully say "Who the fuck is the PREDATOR now?!"
I like the coloring job on the predator and Riddick. Looks very good and smooth to me! The shading on Riddicks muscles is especially well done, and I like that evading pose of his. The background is pretty messy, but when their battling like that it's actually quite understandable. If they're, like, moving so damn quickly that the background just melts... yanno.. Haha, I don't know what I'm babbling about. XD

rachaelm5 In reply to MariP [2006-03-23 23:50:04 +0000 UTC]
LOL - Thanks very much. I suspect Riddick will win just because he's The Riddick. Predators will just be extra freckly target practice.
The background is messy because I am LAZY. I was also worried that a background would take attention away from the figures, so that's my legitimate excuse.

No fancy gadgets just brawn, brain and sharp pointy object... really I have no clue who could win. Gives a whole new meaning to a toss of the coin: Pred takes a head... Riddick saves his tail. har har...

I still think Predator and Riddick are pretty evenly matched, but most of us give Riddick slightly better odds because he's The Riddick, and cool anti-heroes like him aren't allowed to die.
