I tried uploading this yesterday, but the image wouldn't show up.
That aside, here's a creature I adored as a kid: Gizmo! With Halloween around the corner, it was the perfect time to revisit an old friend. 
Let's just hope Gizmo behaves himself and lays off the sweets.

The nostalgia feels are real. O_O I loved Gizmo and told myself many years ago I'd some day draw him. I listened to the Gremlins soundtrack while painting this. Gizmo's melody always leaves me teary-eye.

It was hard painting that candy... I wanted a bag of skittlez by the end of this, LOL.
As for his fur, part of it comes from the natural watercolors I start with. When I switch to Photoshop to repaint everything, I paint with transparencies so I can still retain those natural textures.

Thank you! I struggled with deciding how to color this. I originally thought monochromatic. But then my concept for this changed and I wanted to surround Gizmo with all this delicious candy. LOL, I can relate to his woes.

Gremlins was my favorite movie growing up too! I played the soundtrack while I painted this. It drove me to actually buy a Gizmo plushie.

Wow that plushie sounds fantastic! It sure does have a memorable soundtrack, and whenever I hear Darlene Love's 'Christmas' I of course immediately think of this movie
Have you seen Krampus? It's very much in the same vein as Gremlins, a Christmas horror movie with comedic elements (made by the same guy that did Trick 'r Treat). And all the effects are puppet-work/animatronics like Gremlins too
