I've been feeling overwhelmed lately with my research paper and preparing for school this coming week. I decided to take a break and 'mediate' by finishing this. This was for the Steampunk Calendar collaboration at the Manga Revolution site. I chose February because it has Valentine's Day. Anywho, this is my character, Seth, the female version. (LOL, for those who don't know, my OC is bi-gender).Initially, I had trouble with a color palette. Then I decided to stick with greens and reds to get those brown tones, I mixed in some other colors since Seth is a colorful type of character. And believe it or not, I didn't blend the colors. This is done in the same technique as "Seth aka Rainbow". I'm basically using flat colors against flat colors. I think I'm getting better at this technique. This image is way more innovational than my previous work. And speaking of which...
Wow, what detail, eh? XP I really wanted to do a proper background. I got inspired by Islam pattern work and wanted something like that. (No reference was used for this, btw). This is called Seth as Venus since it's paying a tribute to Venus. There are subtle esoteric messages here that I'll leave only to the art majors out there to find. ^_~ Enjoy decoding it!
After doing this, I so want to finish my DMC fanfic so everyone knows what happens to Seth in that story. Alas, I got other things to take care of.

I absolutely fell in love with this when it was just a partial image. Now that I see it in whole I am just at a loss for words. I really, REALLY would like to do a piece inspired by her. Would you mind? Hopefully you answer soon as I'd love to make it my next project.

Just a quick update. She is coming out beautiful so far! I'm excited to finish her. Working on the sculpted parts of the costume right now. The umbrella has worked out quite well. Can't wait to show her to you!

Sorry I disappeared for a while. I was out of town visiting family and came back with a nasty flu bug. I had enough energy to put her in my gallery and hope to get a few pics loaded here tomorrow. But I wanted you to at least see her since you've been waiting! I hope you like her. I'm always nervous when the artist sees what I've done with their idea.
