Hey Folks!!Well, I am putting together a Robin sample for an editor at DC Comics. I am having a blast doing it because I love Robin and the Batman Family.
Hope you guys ( and the editor ofcourse) dig it!
*Edit- Well, I took the suggestions I either thought were valid and/or felt even though I had another vision in mind ( like the windows in shade were smaller and higher bathroom windows like I have in my house and have had in my apartment) and adjusted them in Photoshop. Some of the things that were suggested I couldn't change because it would deviate from the script....which is why I drew them that way.
Things I changed: Made the car higher/bigger which makes it overlap the curb and gives it more depth...along with define the lines of the car more, made the windows in shade lower and longer to be the same size and level as the front windows, and widened panel 2.
Doing those things made the page tighten up another notch. Thanks for the suggestion, guys!! Much appreciated!

This page is really nice! The third panels is a little awkward, just his body position, but I REALLY like the overall look of the page. Do you mind if I take a crack at inking it?

Awesome job on this page, I agree with the crits you've gotten so far, but really this is a solid style for this character I'd love to see you working on Robin or Teen Titans. You definitely have a good grasp of the character. If you get these inked and want some colours done I'd love to give it a shot.

Looks fantastic, man. I know you have a goal to be doing superhero comics, and this looks very much like a step in the right direction. My first DC book comes out next week (Blue Beetle #21! Buy it!), so who knows? Maybe we'll get to work together at DC some day!

i'm digging it! I see some of the suggestions others gave you, and i agree with them. But thats what others eyes are here for right, to give you an alternate perspective to improve upon small details! If that editor doesn't dig it after all that, they might need glasses with very thick lenses that have a secret message inscribed in them saying "think ray, ray's awesome. Do it!"

This is such a solid page. The storytelling is really tight and the angles you chose especially on panel 3 is just stellar. Good luck with the submission!

hey ray, this is a nice piece, but i gotta agree with with norvandell, about that hood of the car. it really flattens out the bottom of that first panel. also as it is right now, the old lady's looking like she's on the hood of the car. i think if the hood/ roof was fixed, and maybe the panel border extended just a bit, it would totally remedy that. also yeah the windows he mentioned, are screwed up, but you already knew that.
the only other thing i have, is the last panel, i think would've worked better, if it was zoomed out just a tad more. right now, though the panel is smaller than panel 5, it's still is roughly the same tightness of shot as 5. also you've got so much shadow playing around there, it get's a bit lost with the blacks from panel 5. zoomed out, just a little bit, i think would be enough to remedy both issues.
like i said, it's a good page, but i think just a few minor tweaks would make it a great page. and panel 5 btw, is bad ass!
