Description
This piece was done as a part of a weekly exercise series. Every week another artist and myself challenge each other with drawing prompts and post our sketches on facebook. I thought this one deserved an inking and coloring . The prompt this week was "draw a mermaid that is based on a real fish". I drew two because I wanted to show how the spines might attach, and also because I rarely draw characters from behind. I also tried drawing more slender body types than usual. The fin "mohawks" are also a step away from my characters long flowing hair. There are some things I'm not happy about but considering it was meant as a creativity exercise I didn't have time to be a perfectionist.
