GIANT FILESIZE AND IMAGE!
Promised myself I wouldn't make this tutorial so long. Opps.
Cross-stitching is quite simple. Don't let the length of this tutorial scare you D: It got longer as I added in the tips :c
I was surprised to see there wasn't much cross-stitchers on dA. Even more when I saw there wasn't a lot of tutorials on this D:
This tutorial covers the basics of it.
I started cross stitching around early 8th or late 7th grade when my mom got into it. c: She used to be a fashion designer, so she was good at sewing. Most of what I wrote in the tutorial was taught to me by my mom ^^ She is awesome. c:
Oh, PS:
Thank you for the support, favs, comments. I haven't gone through all of them (I have some from the start of May!) but I promise I'll be looking through and replying to them today.
Thank you so much, and I really mean it.

I'm pretty sure this was also already mentioned but another way to start the first x is to enter from the back side to the front and leave about an inch of so of a tail. then as you're doing your x you should make sort of a |_| shape and the tail should get trapped in between one of those lines. Thats just my 2 cents.

This is a great tutorial!
I learned two new things!
- using a magnet to retrieve dropped needles - tying a knot when you start a using a new floss (I've been doing something a bit more tedious)
Thanks!

This is really awesome to see, someone posting a list of the basics. I don't use knots to start my thread though...they're not always good for the backing and I've noticed just folding a single strand in half then using the loop to attach it to the fabric makes a pretty clean knot. Doesn't make much sense when i describe it, sorry.
I love making self-made patterns. They're so awesome! Keep up the fun work!

This is a great tutorial, and cute! Makes me want to do some cross-stitches again. I made my own design a while back and stitched it onto a tank top. I used grid paper and regular markers to make my design, but I really like the Photoshop method in your other tutorial, that way I could easily convert a more complex picture into a design for stitching. The only problem is getting the willpower to actually stitch such a complex design...
Anyway, props to you for these lovely tutorials!
