Description Going to quickly skip to #1401, because the #1400 special is gonna need a bit longer in the oven. I will say it’s a double review of Helluva Boss and the Amazing Digital Circus. Hopefully it should be done soon, so keep an eye out for that.

But, we have a Snark of the Week to do. Now that Halloween’s over, it means less distractions on my end. If this is your first time here, I am aware the Ukraine/Russia and the Israel/Platypus wars are still going on. I didn’t feel like devoting a segment to each SOTW to say “the sky is blue, the grass is green and people are still being killed in meaningless conflicts because their leaders are assholes.”

The general theme of this week is, yet again, about the Walt Disney corporation. However, before we get to that…

“Oh, Capcom.”
I feel like I could make a sitcom based on video game developers and that sitcom would be called “Oh, Capcom.” Every time she has one of her colossal blunders or miscalculations, they look at her with a smile and say: “Oh, Capcom.” This is followed by canned laughter and the Seinfeld theme blaring into your eardrums.

Their latest error comes in the form of terminating PC mods for games like Street Fighter 6 and Resident Evil 4, as it appears Capcom’s finally embraced [Californian Politics] in that women are not objects to be admired, but rather the tiresome “strong female protagonist” who don't need no man and all the usual buzzwords attached to said nonsense.

If I may make a case for both sides of the argument for a moment?

On one hand, I sort of understand where Capcom’s coming from. In a game like Resident Evil for example, do I really want to be plodding down zombie infested streets wearing a bikini made of SpongeBob SquarePants images and a G String so small, it doubles as Joe Biden's approval rating? Kinda kills the horror nature of the game to be honest when my character looks dressed for a poll dance rather than tackling the undead.

But on the other hand, I don't really see the harm in PC mods. Alternate costumes and silly unlockable outfits are just goofy harmless fun you indulge in once you finish the game properly. Yes, I want to play Resident Evil 3 and take in the brief story as seriously as possible the first time, but then I want to do an another playthrough where Jill’s wearing nothing but cocktail sausages and Nemesis has been replaced with Mr. Blobby.

Capcom’s statement of mods being “harmful to the community” feels disingenuous and gives me this really uneasy feeling. It’s a shame that one of the best developers in Japan is coming down with the dreaded Buzzword Virus. I'd of thought Capcom wanted to avoid another financial crisis, but then again, I'm not a corporate executive.

Marvel Vs. Variety: The Old Age of Heroes.
Meanwhile, their old sparring partner Marvel isn't exactly fairing better these days. Thanks to a scathing Variety article, it now seems socially acceptable to call out Marvel and their pandering bollocks. The article pointed out how the constant stream of new Superhero movies, Disney+ shows and other assorted crap has turned off audiences in droves.

Right. So when I said that back in 2016, I was called a lunatic or some kind of contrarian. See I'm not a monster, I'm just ahead of the curve. Not that I read Marvel’s shitty comics these days for I've moved on to reading the back of cereal boxes, where the only thing I've got to worry about is them replacing my favourite ingreidents in my Honey Nut Cheerios.

I do feel bad for those who are fans of characters like Kamala Khan or Miles Morales, who just want to see their favourites alongside more popular (and marketable) heroes such as Tony Stark or Peter Parker. The problem is that we can’t just have them working with those characters, they have to replace them and browbeat the audience on their non-existent [BUZZWORDS]. I personally feel this is Marvel projecting, but I digress.

It seems not even that is a sustainable option anymore as the audience has begun to leave in droves. The rumour of an Avengers reunion movie (that stars the original team from the 2012 movie) is the final nail in the coffin for this agenda driven nonsense. After all the virtue signalling and how these new diverse charactes are "the future," they've binned them entirely gone "back to basics." It's almost as if they never believed what they were preaching to begin with?

Not that I would be watching this supposed movie if it gets announced, because I see this tripe for what it is. The Walt Disney Corporation is like an abusive spouse and the Avengers reunion movie is an attempt to prolong the failing marriage by doing something nice for you, before going back to abusing you within a week.

To reiterate my point from several years ago, if the MCU took a three to five-year break after Endgame, I think we’d be seeing a very different scenario playing out. In that brief hiatus, they could recompose themselves, plot out a clear vision for the future and have a character that's compelling enough as Thanos to carry the franchise for another 10 years. Unfortunately, they arrogantly ploughed forward with Phase Four the following year; Despite having half the cast remaining from Endgame, no one name worthy to replace them with and tragic loss of Chadwick Boseman. What I'm saying is the MCU needed to sit down and let shit breathe for a while. You can't call a film ENDGAME and expect to do more stories afterwards. It's like the false advertising of Halo 3: “FINISH THE FIGHT... Until the fourth game comes out.”

I know what the predictable argument is from the remaining MCU fans at this point: “Just wait until the X-Men and Fantastic Four get here!” No. I will not wait until the X-Men and the Fantastic Four get here, because they’d be arriving at a dead franchise that ended years ago. While I would love to see at least ONE decent rendition of Doctor Doom on the big screen, I don't trust Disney or Marvel to do the Fantastic Four as intended. I can already see a story about Sue Storm being an unstoppable Mary Sue who quips her away through every single scene while Reed, Johnny and Ben are just standing there in the background. Also, Doctor Doom vows to make Latveria Great Again and never shuts up about “building a wall.”

Yeah. Thanks, but no thanks.

Aftermath of the Panderverse.
All of this of course comes off the heels of the recent South Park special: Joining the Panderverse. The special in question sees Matt Stone & Trey Parker provide their commentary on “the cultural war” which, if we’re being honest with ourselves, needs to go the fuck away at this point. A sentiment South Park seems to embody by telling everyone: “you’re all fucking stupid!”

Now I haven't personally seen Joining the Panderverse (at time of writing) because I'm not shelling out money for Paramount Plus and if I wanted to see a bunch of immature kids swearing so badly, I'd walk into my local playground or read a Youtube comment section.

I’ve read the basic plot synopsis and it seems to have hit the nail pretty much on the head when it comes to Disney, Kathleen Kennedy and all the usual buzzwords in between. It also wasn't afraid to equate all of YouTube's constant whining and complaining to Eric Cartman: an annoying brat who has a hissy fit over everything involving Star Wars, Marvel Comics or entertainment in general. Biting subtle commentary there as always, South Park.

While I have no doubt the episode itself was absolutely hilarious, I'll be watching very closely to the aftermath going forward. Much like South Park’s roasting of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle earlier this year, it’s suddenly socially acceptable to say: “Yeah! Disney DOES suck and all these films are garbage!” I like how people need to be told what to think about a situation these days.

I don't think this is going to change Disney's attitude towards anything going forward. They're still going to be the toxic dumpster fire they've been for the last decade. Who knows? Maybe they’ll realise the tide is turning against them, change course and make quality entertainment again. Then again, I also want to be married to Leanne Crow and ride a dinosaur to work every day. We can't have everything we want now can we?

Because that's the fundamental problem with entertainment right now, for we're living in the “NO FUN ALLOWED Era.” We can't have things simply be entertaining anymore oh no-no-no. Now everything has to be a TEDTalk or a lecture on society and things only Twitter gives a shit about. It's why Spider-Man 2 is getting pushback, why Velma got taken to task earlier this year and why The Marvels is basically being set up for a public execution next week.

So once again, thank you very much Matt Stone & Trey Parker for pointing out something many of us have been saying for years now.

Bonfire Night.
And lastly, today is November 5th. Which means it's time for one of the few UK holidays that nobody cares about or understands outside of England. If it helps, America, nobody gives a shit about Thanksgiving over here.

Bonfire night is where we remember an event from ancient times when someone tried to kill the king and government of this country… That makes him the badguy somehow.

Honourable mentions: FNAF makes $130.6 million in less than a week. SSnipeWolf continued to be stupid. Robocop: Rogue City came out.
