I am very bad at driving the Mako.I am fairly sure my fem!Shep is not actually licensed to drive it, but no one is brave enough to tell her she can't.
There are three of them in there because two was too boring... and anyway, based on the Feros mission, the Mako has room for four. Garrus strikes me as the type who would enjoy roller-coasters, I don't know why. Tali is too polite to comment on someone else's piloting/driving/whatever. Liara... well, this is her first exposure to Shepard's driving.
Also, I really (really really) need a different title, but I am not particularly clever today. I would welcome suggestions.

I can drive it really well in combat situations. Playing chicken with a colossus, running over enemies, shooting and blowing things up, even do a little dance with a thresher maw (if I'm in the mood, most of the time I do the cheap boost-jump and shoot cycle). But once it gets back to exploration, I've driven off cliffs, flipped the Mako countless times, got it stuck in strange places, and even driven off the map into the abyss. It's so weird and little depressing, considering my skill with the warthog and scorpion from Halo and any other game that puts me in control of a tank or car.

It's the lack of physics, I think, or at least that's what usually got ME stuck. A tank ought to weigh something. The Mako bounces like it's made of rubber and weighs about two pounds. It's like driving a hamster ball in not-quite-zero-g, unless you're stuck, in which case it suddenly seems to weigh just enough that you STAY stuck. ><
I'm impressed you managed to fall off the world - I haven't done that one! I got adept-shoved through the floor and into freefall, once, but I've never managed it in the Mako... Something new to try for!

It takes a lot of patience and finding just the right spot to do it. Unfortunately I can't remember where that spot is for the life of me, but I know it's one of the smaller planets you explore.

Hills, mountains, pebbles in the road... the Mako handles like a pregnant camel in a zero-g wind-tunnel. ><

Oh God, the Mako. I'm horrible in that. Not so much my driving as I forget it actually has very limited defense when my characters is new and I'm not replaying an already beaten story. And so I try to tank the crap out of the enemy, and instead I die. That and I always try to scale the mountains and end up getting stuck. I love hitting the people though in the Mako and making them fly. *sigh* Best part of the stupid car.

XD Very funny. My Man!Shep decided early on that he wanted to change his last name to Duke and took every big crater and hill as a challenge for maximum air. Very fun, but not too smart on an intellectual level.
Replaying Mass Effect 1 after beating the sequel and getting a good appreciation for what I like better, what I'm glad they removed, and just the different flavor. Oddly enough I don't mind the Mako bits much. It's fun to watch physics at play when I plow some geth, even their big walkers that just crumble like dust, not to mention lighting them aflame with the main gun.

Because, honestly, you haven't seen HORRENDOUS driving mechanics until you've played Midtown Madness. That game made me a Mako-Driving GOD, after I've had some practice.

Hehe that's okay. I can't drive the Mako either. I usually end up running into door frames or sliding down a mountain upside down. I do get good air sometimes though.

Do yah one better tho I managed to get the nose of the mako stuck int the gap above the shutters in one of those sheds that seem to be at ever little base out there. Just wedged in perfectly, All 6 tires off the ground.
I love the driveing sections ,bumed me out when I found the wreckage of the mako in ME2
Really looking forward to the ME2 patch in where we get to drive around in some extra missions with a new mako-esk tank.

I've gotten a tiny bit better since I posted this, but... yeah. Shepard IS a useless driver. Poor Garrus - he works so hard on the Mako and then she takes it out and flips it over. Or it bursts into flame while she's taking down a thresher maw. Or...

I bet Garrus went down to the garage in the new Normandy to check for any new veichle of pain and fear before he agreed to join Shepard again.
My favorite stunts with the Mako is to climb a nearly vertical mountain and fall down or make roadkill out of a Geth Collossus.

Best thing ever: Doing a triple backflip and landing directly on a Geth Colossus. My driving is SO awesome, Liara!

*in awe* That's incredible. I've never managed anything even a fraction that cool. Most of my Mako stories involve getting stuck. I got the Mako stuck on a Dragon's Tooth once... it didn't turn into a husk Mako, which was disappointing, since glowy blue lights would have made it at least 30% cooler. And I had to reload to get it unstuck. ><
