Description
It was one of those nights you only hear of in storybooks. The sky was clear, and seemingly endless. Every star shined like porcelain in its own little area of the sky. It was the ideal night for stargazing, and that's exactly what two boys planned to do.

Lying on their backs, the cool breeze washed over them. Grassy tendrils tickled their skin, the night entirely peaceful.

"Ne, Sasuke," The blonde said, grinning. "That one looks like a spoon."

"Dobe," Sasuke scoffed, turning to Naruto. "That would be the big dipper."

"The wha'?"

"The big dipper. It's a constellation," Sasuke explained. "See? Look. There's the handle."

"Oh," Naruto murmured. "It's weird. I mean, who would look in the stars and think, 'Oh, hey, a spoon?'"

The brunette rolled his eyes and laughed a little. "Apparently, you. You're the one who brought it up in the first place."

Naruto blinked, opened his mouth to argue, only to close it again. Damn.

The blonde was soon distracted, as something flickering in the distance caught his eye. It looked like a tiny lightbulb that was about to burn out. The way it faded away and came back again, it was like a constant setting and rising of a little, shining sun.

"Fireflies!" Naruto exclaimed happily. Sitting up, he smiled as one flew towards his face. Extending a finger, he let the little bug land on him. He laughed a little. It tickled, the way it crawled on his fingers.

Sasuke hid a smile behind the all-too familiar smirk. "You're like a little kid."

Naruto shrugged, brushing off the insult. "Oh well, then. I never got to catch fireflies when I was little. I-" Realizing what he just said, he laughed it off nervously. "I mean, I never was interested, y'know? I wouldn't have the... erm, patience to catch bugs like that. I've never done it before, so..."

"...I see," Sasuke said, playing along with the lie. "I can understand that."

Naruto turned his attention back to Sasuke and grinned his vulpine grin. "C'mon, you know you wanna catch one."

Sasuke sighed, as if this was a chore. "Fine, whatever gets you to be quiet."

The brunette let a smirk play across his face. He didn't want to say it, but it was kinda fun. Though he would rather die than admit it, he thought it was kind of cute the way Naruto smiled so widely whenever he caught a firefly. It was like his own little victory, and no one could take that away from him. Except for one problem: He couldn't catch any for himself! They all seemed to run away from him, or at least that's what it felt like.

Naruto, noticing Sasuke's slight frustration, grinned. "Can't catch any?"

"Shut up."

"Oh come on," Naruto chuckled, "Not everything has to be a competition."

A snort. "You're one to talk!"

"Whatever. Your problem," Naruto proclaimed, "Is that you chase them like you're going to kill them."

"Huh?" Sasuke said, "What are you talking about?"

"Well, when you didn't catch one, you got mad. Then you try too hard to chase after another. Then you got madder, and madder, and eventually you've got this look in your eyes like you suddenly feel like killing a coupl'a fireflies." The way Naruto nodded his head so seriously may have been mistaken for wisdom, should the discussion pertain to anything other than the murder of glowing insects.

"...What scares me is you have seemingly thought this through," Sasuke said, shaking his head in disbelief.

"It's not hard to figure out," Naruto chuckled. "Just chill out a bit, okay? Enjoy the night."

Sasuke shrugged, laying back down on the grass. Seconds later, a firefly landed on his nose. Crossing his eyes to see the unfamiliar bug, Sasuke blinked at the shine of the firefly's backside. Slowly, he reached on to his nose, extending a finger as he saw Naruto do before. The firefly slowly made his way onto the Uchiha's fingertip, antennae twitching slightly.

"See?" Naruto prodded, "What'd I tell ya?"

Sasuke's mouth twitched at the corners, resisting the urge to smile. Glancing up at Naruto, he stared for just a second at the blonde. The way he smiled, the way he walked, talked... It reminded him of-

"A firefly," Sasuke said. "That's exactly it."

"What do you mean?" Naruto asked, tilting his head to the side in confusion.

Slightly embarrassed at having said that aloud, Sasuke continued. "You. You're like a firefly."

Naruto laughed a little and said, "Since when did my ass glow in the dark?"

The brunette sighed, exasperated at his brevity. "I don't mean it that literally. All I'm saying is that you remind me of a firefly."

"And how," Naruto wanted to know, clearly amused, "Do you figure that?"

"One: Ridiculously bright," He said, indicating the orange clothing. "Two: There's no one like you that I know. Three: Hard to catch."

Naruto thought a minute before responding, "I can understand the first two, I geuss. But why the third?"

Sasuke fidgeted uncomfortably, unsure of what to say. He'd never been this talkative before to Naruto, let alone anyone else. With a sigh, he placed his hands behind his head, flopping back onto the grass.

"Because," Sasuke deadpanned, "I have no idea what you're thinking half the time, and I don't understand you at all. It's not the same kind of 'capture' as, say, the firefly, but it's pretty much the same concept."

Naruto, thinking a moment, nodded. A mischevious grin suddenly made its way across his face.

"Well, if I'm a firefly, know what that makes you?'

Sasuke shrugged. He didn't particularly care, but he had a feeling he wouldn't like it.

"You," Naruto said triumphantly, "Are a beetle. The nasty kind, with pincers. Ill-tempered, dark, and violent."

Sasuke's eye twitched, and bopped Naruto lightly on the back of the head. Rubbing the 'injury' in feigned pain, Naruto laughed.

"You just proved my point, y'know."

"Shut up. At least my ass doesn't glow."
