In science, there are only models which explains a phenomena in nature, and when supported by empirical evidence discovered through observation and experimentation, is held as fact, until new evidence emerges which warrants changes in the existing model, if not outright replacement by a new model. Both theory and evidence are subjected to constant, intense scrutiny to ensure all are free from bias, mistakes, and deliberate fraud.Β 

Because of this arrangement, the scientific method is, and remains, the most reliable method to accurately understand the material universe as we observe it.
