I always loved the dynamic tension and drama of the scenes when the Colonial Vipers would launch from the Galactica and then plunge into the abyss of deep space. The music always gave those scenes such a thrilling feel, like just about anything could happen to those brave pilots in their sleek, speeding Vipers.Related content

I guess you could say that. Or maybe it's Starbuck like the character in Herman Melville's 1851 classic novel, Moby Dick. Your question suggests that you might not be familiar with Battlestar Galactica. Is that correct? (I apologize if I've come to that conclusion erroneously.) If you like Star Wars, but aren't familiar with Battlestar Galactica, you might want to check it out. The original 1978 TV series (which is what is depicted in this series of images) is a bit dated now, but it's full of fun, kid-friendly, Star Warsy action sequences, and mindless chrome robots. The 2004 re-imagined Battlestar Galactica TV series is for adults only. It is much darker, more sophisticated, and manages to achieve some pretty compelling psychological suspense.

I'm pretty much low on franchise knowledge: mainly Bionicle, bit of SW, some handful anime, TV series and movies, and only heard abouts, like Star Trek and Battlestar Galactica.

Starbuck and Apollo are two of the main characters in Battlestar Galactica. They are both young Colonial Warriors and a Viper pilots. Apollo is the more noble and responsible one, while Starbuck is more of a gambler and risk-taker. In the original series, Starbuck is a man; and in the re-imagined series Starbuck is a woman.
