Description
Here is the original Mk I Viper from Battlestar Galactica (the original series) flying alongside the Mk II Viper from the "re-imagined series." The ships are shown in correct scale with eachother. The Mk I Viper (at 8.84 meters in length) is a little bit longer than it's newer counterpart (8.4 meters.) This Mk I is a little darker tone of gray with orange stripes, whereas the Mk II is nearly white with deep red stripes. It's nice to see these two ships finally flying with eachother.

The original Viper fired "laser torpedoes" which seemed to work pretty much like blasters, whereas the standard Mk II was equipped with 30mm autocannons, and occassionally missiles. The Mk I's also sported "turbo-thrusters" that temporarily boosted them to speeds that the Cylons couldn't attain, and "reverse thrusters" that were constantly confounding the Cylons.

I really enjoyed both series, but I'm not sure that I loved the ending of either one. In my own headcanon, I like to image that the fleet arrived at a benevolent advanced "future Earth" which would really be able to help the ragtag fugitive fleet get back onto its feet, and start rebuilding lots of Vipers and Battlestars, so that it could defend itself against the Cylons. In such a scenario, I like to imagine seeing lots of different iterations of Vipers flying together, as they being to rebuild the Colonies.
