I drew this quite a while ago.. Found it and realized I'd never put it up so.. here it is? I wanted to finish it, but just never found to time I guess. Every sticky note should have something on it...Maybe when things lighten up around here I'll color it and give it the attention it needs.. but for now.. here you go..
A touch melodramatic but its my sketchbook so there!

I want to tell you, BTW, thank you so much for your work in this series. I never watched it as a kid. My parents were a lot like Edd's in the "don't do this, go do that" and one of them was to not watch this show. It was depraved as they said. At the age of 20, I finally marathoner the whole series, all seasons specials and movie. I seriously love this show, I think more than I ever would have as a kid growing up and watching it. The episode where they are just playing in the junkyard. I remember when I did that. I miss it, love it. I admit to being jealous of these characters, they never have to grow up, but as the seasons progressed, I feel like they did. But yet they still stayed that "innocent" like you said. Even as they tried, especially Edd, they were still just kids. I have so much adoration for the series and characters. So thank you, no matter how small, for bringing this little cul-de-sac to life. It doesn't matter if you don't think you did much, what you have done has meant the world to me.

"Don't be melodramatic"... xD Every note is great, I remember the note "dont touch yourself" from the cartoon, you've made a nice reference with Dad's note next to it.

I feel like he's way more of a tragic character than I realized as a kid. Even as a kid, though, I still thought something was wrong about his parental situation. I always liked him best, though.
I would really like to see this one finished some day, I think.

I'm just amazed by the level of emotion that actually comes through in your drawings. Looking through your gallery is like a roller coaster ride through the entire emotional spectrum.

i love the addition of the "don't let other people touch you"note lol but seriously, this is a really deep and almost heartbreaking pic...tugged at my heart. poor double d :/ awesome job.

It's funny how I never really thought of this watching EEnE as a kid, but watching it now I realize how difficult it must be for each of the Eds.
Ed deals with a mother that favors his sister who tries to control him, and it's possible his mother favors females meaning his dad could be scared of his mom too.
Edd just wants to please his parents, and they expect so much from him. They probably are gone almost all the time anyway.
Eddy has an abusive brother who threatened him to admire his brother and is still probably hiding some of his true colors because the wounds his brother gave him are too deep.
I guess that's the best part about this show and others. There is so much to question and analyze that you can create your own ideas along with others exchanging a variety of thoughts to one another.

I really wish they'd delved into more stuff like this. It was such a light-hearted show with a dark underbelly hidden away. Ah, well.

I think, had it gone on longer, that may have happened. The scripts started getting a lot more involved toward the end. Ideally we could have done more 22-minute episodes to give things the proper gravity.
Actually there was some interesting stuff cut from the movie... I boarded part of a 'campfire' confessional that the Eds went through, revealing some interesting secrets about themselves. Boy was it difficult watching that get cut.

This says so much about Double D's home life. I think Ed Edd n Eddy was a great show, because underneath all the zany slapstick and jawbreaker scams, the characters had a lot of hidden depth that once in a while shown through.

This makes me want to cry. I even remember all of the sticky notes his parents would leave around, telling him to fold the laundrey, mow the lawn, iron hs clothes... and they were never home. The only ways they expressed whatever love or compassion they had for him was a tiny heart in front of their names. That was it. Double D is such a deep character, more than I thought he was. Considering the fact that his parents were NEVER home, the only people he can turn to are his friends... but sometimes that isn't enough. And now I understand why he is so mature and smart, he had to adapt to being like a grown-up, because he had to fend for himself and basically take care of himself... I wonder if his parents ever even came home every night. Poor Edd...

Well, in a way, I see the artist has to be more attached to the character, that way when they draw them, they can really show more emotion through them and it just seems more realistic.
^w^ you do an excellent job. hehe, in fact, after going through your gallery (the whole thing I believe LOL) I was completely inspired to try and draw Edd on my own, trying to mimic the style and give him more emotions.
