mmm what you say? that it's just what we need?you decided this.
.. right, then. *rubs eyes* I've been head-downwards with this since sometime Sunday afternoon.. this is maybe 8 hours of colouring? Something like that. Noo, I'm not very fast, aha. Anyway. For the moment, I'm leaving the black and white version because honestly? I'm just not convinced that it's any better all up with the complicated colouring than it was just very simple and black and white. Dunno. Open to opinions, though.
This is still cropped-down from what will be the finished composition, because I've focused on the face, and, er, not worked on the edges much. ^_^;

The shading and skin tones are perfect, it just need some more work in the hair (and donΒ΄t worry about the speed, take the time you need to get the results you want)

i like the light in his eyes. it draws you in and translates some of that evocative feeling you were able to capture with the b&w version. but, i think i agree with you that there's "something" to the b&w that's not quite here... that said, your technique in coloring this is still wonderful. i don't know how i feel about red for his hair... black maybe for a sharper contrast with his eyes... i dunno... the skin is wonderful. and, i'll quit rambling here
