Absolutely amazing-looking details on that layout...they did a great job. And the perspective you choose to shoot it from enhances it all. Fantastic!

I shot this for Model Railroader Magazine but my personal layout is 38X18' it takes up half of my basement and I am debating on selling it. It has sat for 3 years, I have been too busy for it and I want to build a studio in the room so it might be going bye bye soon.

Although it's just a model, it's still a great shot capturing the moment the locomotive exits the tunnes.

I have some layout shots I have to submit. The detail on the scenery is fantastic and the angle is great. Nice shot.

Thanks, I thought this would make a good cover shot. I need to submit it along with 20 others.
They did a wonderful job on the scenery didn't they?
THanks again

Outstanding modeling! Looks real enough that it fooled me in the thumbnail size.

Yes this layout was an awesome layout. It was in Great Model Railroader 2009, but i save this shot for the Track Side shots they do. I think this is a money shot for sure.

It's funny, because from the thumbnail, it looks like it's a model railway, then I think it's actually real until I read your description that it is indeed a model. It is isn't it? Just illustrates the quality of your shots!

This is a model. If you notice how low I got on the layout you'll see why most think this is a real train. Its never seen in model shots where you are looking at the perspective a person walking on the layout its self. Even the power lines helped this by being under the model engine why being in front of the scene. When I saw this I knew I had to shoot this shot.
Thanks for the kind words!

I take it that you're using a macro lens to achieve these shots?

Nope just a regular lens with a out macro. I was about a foot from the layout almost on the floor. I thought it would be worth the shot if I could get under the power lines making it look like I was actually on the layout walking around with my camera. I was pretty happy with the overall shot.

The whole layout can be seen in the Great Model Railroader Magazine. My wife and I went down there to shoot this for the MR. I also got the cover and the month of April in The Art of Model Railing Calender for 2010.
Thanks
