Considering that Watership Down is a war story with rabbits and a retelling of the writers experiences, how much of the show would be that out of place to the real situation?

OK? The TV series was made because Martin Rosen; the director of the film, wanted to make a TV series eqivelent aimed at families so more people can enjoy it. The series was also supposed to sell merchandise which some of the proceeds going to the estate of Richard Adams.

The beginning of the series did try to stay true to the book, but taking a few liberities along the way. But after the introduction of Efrafa, the series did become more reliant on original stories, though it's rumoured one or two stories from Adam's 'Tales from Watership Down' inspired a couple of stories.

In Series 3, they did give us more of a backstory for Woundwort which neither book, nor film had acomplished before and gave a minor character, more of a major role.

At the end of the day there are both positives and negatives that the TV series had brought on.

I do believe in several interviews and inquiries Adams said some of the concepts which were used.

There are negatives and positives indeed.

Adams did give his blessing for the series to be made, likehe did for the film.

Like you said, indeed.

Well yes, I meant he tossed them a few of the Woundwort ideas and whatnot they used in the series. I do recall him mentioning he had intentions to do more stories about the rabbits but later on he chose not to.

I'm guessing you mean Richard Adams, these ideas probably were what he wanted to focus on in 'Tales From Watership Down', but wound up doing other stories instead.

The show wasen't aired in the United States which only had a few DVD releases of the show back during the time it was aired in the UK in 2000.

The series can be seen on YouTube and is avaliable on DVD in PAL areas.

I remember watching the movie not too long ago, about a year or so. Had it as a little kid and watched it a lot then to. XP

Pretty good movie. I like movies like it, like the Plague Dogs and Felidae. Never managed to see the television serious though.

Awesome job!

I like the movie better too because it got a meaning in it and the dramatic concept. I did get dissapointed in the tv series with the scene where hazel got shot... But I do like the characters and their designs. Especially bigwig and woodwort

The TV series didn't get too violent since it was aimed at a family audience to begin with, it wasen't until Series 3 that they made things darker to try and attract viewers but it wasen't aired in the UK, due to the change in direction the series went.

Same here, I like mainly that stuff from the second book got added into the series. And the movie left out many parts as well so both have their flaws.
