"Sire, your cub has arrived."

King Scar turned to the lioness who spoke to him, his green eyes watching her every movement. "What gender is it?" The gender would tell the King whether it was worth his time to see. A female he would just ignore as he did with Nala, but a male...That was worth his time.

"It's a boy, my King." the lioness replied.

"Excellent."

The Dark King slowly turned away from the reporting lioness, waving her off with a flick of his tail as he entered the pride den. No one else was in there, save for Sarafina and Sarabi, the latter who had been there to assist Sarafina with the birthing process. Scar ignored Sarabi, striding right past her as he walked up to Sarafina. The lioness was busy grooming a small orange ball of fluff, which let out a small mew. She looked up into the eyes of her mate, who stared down at the little hairball in her arms.

"Show me my son." Scar ordered, his voice and face both void of any emotion.

Sarafina opened her arms to reveal a healthy baby boy. The little cub gazed up at his father with his unfocused blue eyes, a tiny, toothless grin on his innocent face. He let out a small yawn before closing them again, falling asleep in his mother's protective arms. Finally Scar allowed a smile to grace his features. A small one, but a smile none the less.

"Well done Sarafina. A healthy male heir. You have served your king well."

"Thank you, Scar." Sarafina replied in a detached tone of voice, bowing her head slightly. But despite the complement, it was clear she wasn't very happy. She knew full well what Scar intended to do with their son, once he was old enough, and she didn't like it one bit. However, she had no say in the matter. It had become quite obvious that the lion she once knew and loved when they were youths -the young Prince Taka- was completely gone now. Only Scar remained, and he intended to turn their son into a monster just like him. Sarafina hated it -hated what her beloved Taka had become- but there was nothing she could do. He was far to gone now.

"Does he have a name yet?" Scar asked, breaking Sarafina's train of thought. She looked up at the Dark King, who had a neutral expression on his face. Ever since she'd told him she'd wanted nothing more to do with him after their cub or cubs were born, Scar had become rather cold with her, although he had, for the most part, respected her wishes. This was, in fact, the first actual interaction they'd had in weeks, ever since that fateful day Sarafina broke it off with him for good.

"I...I wanted to call him Mheetu."

"Me...too?" Scar repeated, sounding out the name slowly in a slightly confused manner.

"Yes. I wanted to name him after my father, Miti, by giving him a similar sounding name. Of course, only if that's okay with you." Sarafina murmured awkwardly.

The Dark King seemed to ponder this for a moment, then shrugged uncaringly. "It will do, I suppose. Prepare Mheetu for his presentation. He will be presented to the kingdom as my heir at dawn."

"Yes, Scar."

Seemingly pleased, at least for the mean time, Scar turned and exited the den, once again ignoring Sarabi as he passed and leaving a heartbroken Sarafina alone with their newborn son. Come the morrow the Pride Lands would know...

The new Dark Prince had been born.

EDIT: Changed up the story a bit to make it fit better with Scar and Sarafina's relationship (or what's left of it). Also, now we know where Mheetu's strange name comes from. It's based off of the name Miti (sound wise), which is the name of Sarafina's father.
