"It's not fair!"

Chiwa let out a sigh of annoyance, opening an eye as her twin brother, Amadi, came stomping up beside her stone perch and into view. He had a snarl plastered on his face and fury burned in his blue-green eyes. A normal sight, as of late.

"What is it now, Amadi?" Chiwa grunted, mentally preparing herself for another round of her brother's complaining.

"Our dear baby sister, Nala, is pregnant." Amadi spat, his face contorting in disgust.

"And...?" Chiwa muttered, opening her other eye to glare at him.

"And!? AND!?" Amadi yelled, getting in her face. "Don't you know what that means, Chiwa!?"

"It means Nala and Simba are going to have a baby, like almost every other mated couple in the world?"

"No! It means that I'll never get to be King!"

"Uh, duh." Chiwa said. "That's nothing new."

"Ugh! Don't you get it, Chiwa? With this new cub of theirs, I'm now going to be second in line for the throne, or possibly even farther down the line if they have more than one!" Amadi growled. "A stupid little hairball is going to prevent me from ever being King!"

Chiwa rolled her eyes and closed them again. She didn't know why, but ever since Simba was born -taking Amadi's place as "future king," since King Mufasa now had a proper heir of his own- Amadi became obsessed with being King of the Pride Lands. Their parents kept saying that it was just a phase, that he'd grow out of it, but he never did. He still wanted to be King, even after Mufasa stepped down and handed over the throne to Simba. And while many in the pride had feared he would try to harm Simba, Chiwa knew he wouldn't. He was too cowardly to actually confront their cousin in a fight. So Amadi was left to stew in his jealousy, complaining to his sister about how "unfair" his life was and how he should be king in place of "stupid Simba."

"It's not fair!" Amadi continued on. "I would be a much better King than stupid Simba! I mean, really! How many times did he almost get himself killed as a cub? How many times did he almost get Nala killed as a cub? He's unfit to be a king, but no one but me sees it! He always thought that he was so much better then me just because he was Uncle Mufasa's son, even though I'm older, stronger, and smarter than him. Besides, Dad is better than Uncle Mufasa anyways! He should have been King, not Uncle Mufasa. I don't know what Grandma Uru and Grandpa Ahadi we're thinking when they let that brute become King over Dad! But that's besides the point. Despite the fact that Simba's a narcassistic little twit, he gets to be King while I get to live in the dirt as a commoner! A commoner! I'm much better than the low-born morons in our pride."

Chiwa opened an eye once more, glancing in her brother's direction.

"Oh, stop your belly-aching. If you think you're so much better than Simba, why not just challange him for the throne? As you said, you are older, stronger, and smarter than him." Chiwa snorted.

"Maybe I will!" Amadi growled, eyes flashing. "No, no "maybe." I will challange Simba for the throne! Then I'll show everyone how much better a King I am compared to stupid, so-called perfect Simba!"

Chiwa closed her eyes once more and smirked, but said nothing as Amadi stalked away towards Pride Rock, muttering to himself how he'd "beat up Simba's stupid face." She knew full well Amadi would chicken out before he even got to the base of Pride Rock. Simba may be King, but he still had his father behind him, as well as their own father, Taka. Amadi would be a fool to try and take on all three, and she knew that despite all his boasting and complaining, he was no fool.

In the end, her brother was just all bark and no bite, and everyone in the Pride Lands knew it.

NOTE: So this is a little "What-If" here, the what-if being what if Amadi and Chiwa didn't die at birth. In the end, Taka would not become Scar, as their deaths were the trigger for him to give into the jealousy and hate in his heart. He would not take on the name Scar, and instead would help his brother as leader of the Lion Guard as planned, eventually finding happiness in his job as well as in his family with Sarafina. Nala would be born shortly before Simba, and like in the movie they would be betrothed. Since Taka is not evil anymore, Mufasa does not die, and is there to raise Simba to be a wise and just King.

Amadi would be a jealous and arrogant lion like his father in TLK, but not to the point to where he'd actually try and murder his cousin. He simply complains that his life is "so unfair" and that he'd be "a much better King than stupid Simba." Chiwa listens to her brother, but pretty much just rolls her eyes at his complaining.

Chiwa would grow up to be a snarky, witty lioness who, while lacking the physical strength of a hunter that her mother has (her brother inheriting Sarafina's Pridelander bulk while she inherits Taka's more Outlander-ish body type), more than makes it up in intellegence, often outwitting her prey in order to kill them. This is how she obtains the role of head huntress once Sarabi steps down.

Simba and Nala marry like in the original movie, and have Nywele ("Fluffy") and Kopa first, then Aisha a few years later, with Nywele as Crowned Prince. However, since Zira is not around (at least, not as a rabid follower of Scar trying to avenge his death), neither cub will be harmed and both will grow up healthy and strong, with Nywele taking over as King after Simba.

Also, there's no Mheetu, Nadra, Nuka, Vitani, Kovu, Kiara, or Kion because: Sarafina never feels the need to salvage her relationship with Scar, so Mheetu and Nadra never get conceived from that now non-existant mating; Scar never mates with Zira to make Nuka and Vitani; Balondemu is never mates with Scar and never attempts to make an heir for Scar with Ngina, so Kovu isn't born (in fact, Balondemu doesn't even come to live in the Pride Lands in this AU); and Kiara and Kion aren't born because Simba and Nala don't need new heirs to replace the heirs they've lost. Everyone is happy (well, almost everyone), and they all live happily ever after. But that's boring, so I probably won't write anything from this AU other than this.
