Description
After many requests, the hand embroidery tutorial is finally here! Hopefully this will be helpful, but please don't hesitate to ask if you have any questions! ^_^This is also a sneak peek for a new corset I'm making (also with a full tutorial).
For a better and more detailed stitch guide, check out this site: [link] There are more than enough stitches there to keep you busy for yeeeears. Mostly though, the different stitches are just simple stitches put together, so be creative!
Note: If you're stitching on a very thin or delicate fabric, you may want to back it with stabilizer (such as a feather weight interfacing) to keep your stitches from tearing through.
Hand embroidery is lovely for decoration on clothing as well as things like handkerchiefs (they make GREAT gifts!) and home decor items.
Also a short note on Hand vs. Machine embroidery (as one who uses both):
While hand embroidery is much, much more labor intensive and time consuming, it is intricate and sentimental in a way that machine embroidery can never be. It's also a lot cheaper! But, if you're sewing for a business, hand embroidery is just too expensive time-wise for most projects, or for big pieces, so embroidery machines can be handy.
