Description The cases were still there.

I had half-expected them to be guarded by hordes of zombies, or wasteland bandits out of some movie from before the ruin. My parents used to say part of how we deal with ruining our world is putting some fantasy on it, some heroic new reality that was better than how things used to be. In the real world, the truth is a lot more sobering.

My parents used to say ask the survivors of Chernobyl or Fukushima. Things before my time, places I never knew, but I got the point. No cool mutant powers or skintight costumes. No hordes of bloodthirsty walkers to stand against. No V-8 engines with mohawked riders on cool dune buggies. Just a dead world with nothing to show for it.

Once it's gone, it's gone, and it never gets better. If only people before this moment understood. Did something. Cared more than the little worlds they built for themselves online. They are all dead now, so I don't really care, and I guess they didn't care either. But I still hate them for what they didn't do. Old-world problems, I know.

My heart is beating out of my chest. I am so tired. I may drop dead myself before I get back home. I can't feel my arms anymore. The pain is just so great.

Two cases. One-hundred kilos. Down thirty flights. Dragging them two or three meters at a time over garbage and debris.

And ten more kilometers to go towards home.

Whoever you are, girl in the orange suit...

Please don't die.

Amazing series so far, you've set the mood wonderfully. I've been binge reading, waiting for you to post a handful of scenes then taking them in together and I am really enjoying this story.

Great scenes, great poses, great story, Thank you for sharing!

Thanks. It is one of those 'stories I'd love to read' sort of things where if I can't buy it, I'll just go ahead and make it for myself to enjoy - and of course, share.

I love Eli and her voice, she mesmerizes me with her observations and struggles. Her situation seems so fantastical, but I can see a lot of this in the world today. A displaced person living in a world that might as well be poison to them? It hurts to see this, but then again, it should.

I grew up in Vermont and had a lot of socially conscious and progressive art teachers. There was this thing going on with them where they said yes, for tourists, pictures of fall leaves and covered bridges sold well and paid the bills. The same goes on with Hollywood where they make movies to make money, and make people happy (and it seems that's all they do nowadays). I also do nudes and enjoy doing them, those are fun and crowd-pleasers, so the same thing here.

Some art though, is beautiful in its ugliness. It's ability to get us to think. To feel human. And I don't mean ugly on technical merits, I do my best to make these look good. But what's in them isn't good. It isn't pretty. But it does make us think. And feel. And there is that classical art-as-discussion thing going on through art here that I love, and I am sure my teachers would get a smile out of if they could see me today.

When the series is complete or at a logical chapter break, will you repackage it as a pdf comic? I would love to see the text up closer to the image where I could see what I am reading about.

I do want to repackage as a PDF comic, or perhaps do this on the Kindle comic creator. I leave space on the image for text panes, and I am sure when I do the page comps new text and supporting background bits will be added. So yes, I just haven't done it yet and I am sticking to the 1080P size for every pane.
