I make it home, and we both live.If you are still alive.
I don't make it home, and we both die.
It seems like a fair deal. I can't imagine living alone anymore, that is, if you are still with me when I get home. Even if I can just be with you a short time this would have all been worth it. I tried. You had a chance.
My dad always said how the world got into this mess is that people spent more energy holding onto power than they did fixing things. They made promises, people believed them, and then did nothing when they had to chance and the power to make a change. Even if it was something small in someone's life, really, what difference did it make? The leaders back then couldn't do anything, so why should I do something, even if it is small?
A couple billion bad choices add up, I guess.
So this is one choice I make today. Even if you are dead at this moment, I did something. I tried.
I did something about it.

Thanks, there are those times, even in this life, where you knuckle down and do something difficult because it's right and true to yourself. It is fun to see someone make these choices, and see that mental fight.
