She does not know better. She knows technical things, engineering, and the suits, not medicine.
Though some of the medical compounds in this world could probably be considered biohazards just because of their potency and effects on the human body. Break a vial and it's game over, even though the stuff is meant to help you in miniscule doses.
Could she have done this with just one case and made it a lot easier? She didn't know and she didn't have time to figure it out. But what if she got home and figured out she did need it?
It is just a horrible situation with no easy answers.

I know, her bravery and determination to help a stranger is so admirable. Yes, she's doing it for herself too, but the risks she knowingly takes is a testament to who she really is as a person and a reminder that humanity lives on, even in the face of annihilation.
