Description
Invictathrone, the Unconquered Shield:After ‘the Storm Incident’ had occurred, Heavenly Fang relocated their surviving staff from the devastated Eden 01 to their secondary base of operations, Eden 02; a massive underground complex going down for miles beneath the city of Rome itself. Eden 02 had received the troubling reports from the island facility and was quick to implement procedures to make sure such ‘errors’ did not occur in the future. While Eden 02 had its own fair share of projects going on, they managed to salvage one from Eden 01, a brutally maimed ceratopsian mutant they had recovered from the wreckage. At first they wondered whether they should put it out of its misery or not. The incredibly large dinosaur wasn’t making it easy for them, as it would thrash violently whenever they attempted to put it down but relax as soon as they stepped back. It was a miracle the creature was still alive, hideous scars covered its body and it was suffering from mangled limbs and it was missing its right eye. Its frill was punctured in several places and its once proud horn had been roughly snapped in two. Despite its condition and difficulty breathing, the massive herbivore refused to die. In a measure of desperate pity the animal control specialists tried to gun the titan down with cannons. The crippled dinosaur began to thrash as expected but what wasn’t expected was for the cannons to start hovering into the air and began smashing through the walls. Apparently its many near death experiences had awakened its latent genes, and access to its control over metal. The head of Heavenly Fang, Father Fang himself, ordered a cease fire immediately and stood before the creature. A will to live like nothing before it burned in its one eye and Father Fang smiled.
“You fools! This is exactly the kind of weapon we have been looking for! Its will to live surpasses anything I’ve seen from the most recent tests. Its power of over metal confirms my theories on how the properties in the growth serum work. I want him repaired.”
“But sir, Subject 535 is severely disabled. It won’t able to sire offspring let alone fi-”
“Did you not hear what I just said? I truly hate repeating myself… perhaps you’d like to negotiate with Cherubix. I hear he’s getting rather anxious for a test that’s more involving then just tracking a target and bringing back its head. Curing you of your ignorance might curb his boredom…”
“I…understand sir…but what do you want us to do with him exactly?
“We created him, it should be only fitting that we rebuild him. Contact the cybernetics department; tell them they have a new project.”
“Yes sir.”
For several grueling weeks, metal alloys and circuitry were ingrained into the titan’s colossal frame. The ceratopsian didn’t make a sound except for the occasional, guttural wheeze. As nanites were flooded into his blood, the titan began to make his own modifications, almost working in tandem with the engineers turned surgeons. A part that wasn’t functioning properly one second would be perfectly melded and operating the next. It was as if the metal parts were becoming a physical parts of the creature’s body all on their own. A special alloy, found while scouring the Savage Chasm, was forged into an incredibly resilient metal called ‘Victorium’ and pain staking forged into an armored shell that covered the once crippled beast from the tip of its reforged, diamond sharp horn to end of its powerful tail. Its eye was replaced with a sophisticated camera and computer system, allowing Heavenly Fang to control the titan directly, a feat they had not yet achieved with their other test subjects and communicate with it on a basic level. With that last addition they thought they their work was done. The ceratopsian had other ideas and calmly rose from his resting place of nearly a month and proceeded to trudge through the massive corridors. Passively removing every metallic object directly in his path, the cybernetic titan entered the armory despite the anxious surgeons and technicians behind him. Father Fang watched smiling from the balconies as the reborn titan took the massive cannons once aimed against him and levitated them onto his mighty shoulders. They merged with his body and the Victorium alloy soon encased them. A simple message was transmitted throughout the facility over every electronic medium: “I.AM.COMPLETE.”
Dubbed with the name ‘Invictathrone’ by Father Fang himself for his miraculous endurance and utter loyalty, Invictathrone became the first true success for Heavenly Fang and was instrumental in elevating the level of security to the point where even the deadly creatures being created in the depths of Eden 02 were forced into submission. Father Fang had taken a personal interest in Invictathrone and began piecing together the events that led the titan’s brutal condition a month prior. The wounds inflicted upon him seemed to be electrical burns and scars left all over his frame came from two large sets of teeth and sickle like claws taller than a man…it seemed that the two runaways did not escape completely unhindered. When placed in front of projections of the two escaped mutants, Invictathrone’s mechanical eye shown a hellish red and his cannons thrummed ominously. When given the command to attack, the projections-as well as most of the testing ground-was leveled in a massive rain of concentrated fire and magnetic force. Father Fang knew then his theory had been correct. Invictathrone would be a necessity in the days to come but for now, he was needed to guard the facility from its own residents. It seemed that he had one part of his force assembled; now he just needed to create the others…
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Whew, okay. The plot thickens and I've gone and given away some story bits. Its unavoidable really. Invictathrone came about when I was creating Heavenly Fang's line up of genetically engineered kaiju, all of which have religous theme. Invictathrone is a combination of the slogan 'Invicta' meaning undefeated or unconquered, its been the saying for the region of Kent since medieval times. Long story short, England forgot the kick their ass and they laughed about it. Throne is a type of angel, one that is pretty darn powerful and generally serves as support for other angels of even higher status. I combined the two into this nifty sounding name.
No dinosaur collection is complete without a triceratops-esque ceratopsian kicking ass like the freaking tanks they are. Since all of Heavenly Fangs kaiju are genetically engineered dinosaurs from the Savage Chasm, He has a hifty mix of features and doesn't really belong to anyone species. He's also a tribute to the Terminator and Armadon from Primal Rage after a fashion. Powers wise he's like Magneto, just not apeshit crazy powerful like he is in that regard. He's not gonna create force fields and fly everywhere. He can only lift things lighter than himself...which includes pretty much everything thats not a major building or a land mark. If there's a kaiju that the military would really hate fighting, it would be Invictathrone. All that metal and its gonna be repelled back at them with interest. God help any mecha that come after him lol. Thats all I say about his powers for now. Got keep some cool stuff handy for a colored version I might do later. Cheers.

Badass Triceratops!! I would not want to piss him off! Love his head armor. Can I seriously integrate a creature based mostly off him into a story of mine? I can give you credit should said story ever be published

I'd rather you didn't but in all actuality there isn't much I can do to stop you.
Out of curiosity, just what kind of story is it?

Well, it's long to explain, but a lot of it revolves around what would have happened had the dinosaurs not been wiped out 65 million years ago. Most of it involves the raptor-type species rising to power, but I would love to include an 'armored triceratops' creature in there as well. It wouldn't be entirely the same as Invictathrone, but similar enough that I would want to ask.

Are you fimilar with a game called 'Paraworld'? It has tribes of people using prehistoric animals and dinosaurs to fight ala war strategy style with each other. The Norse Tribe has a major unit called the Triceratitan that is pretty much a massive Triceratops coverd in armor with ballistas mounted on its shoulders and a holster on along its back that holds around four artillery units. It's still a comparably normal sized dinosaur. Invictathrone is a daikaiju, basically something as big as a parking lot and is around 100 meters tall. As long as the armored ceratopsians aren't the size of buildings, cyborgs and capable of manipulating metal, then it wouldn't be copying invictathrone. It would be using a similar idea but in a direction that has been established as something of a trope and thus acceptable.

Ok, cool. I've never heard of Paraworld, but it sounds interesting. And there wouldn't be and metal or cyborg-type stuff involved, exactly. more of an..evolutionary variant deal. But good to know. I just don't want to be ripping people off.

Well, it hit me that I started commenting on KCELL some time ago, but stopped about halfway through for no good reason whatsoever. So Immah be gettin' back to that now
Okay. . ., so Heavenly Fang returns from their past failure, in all their god playing, and the first beast they chalk out is this near limitlessly powerful creature, at least when potential is considered. The design is just lovely, armor and scale seemlessly melding and with no gaping mistakes on account of clumsy human hands.
Man, this guy would easily win the award for 'most entertaining to watch fight the military' among kaiju. Don't destroy what you can use, I always say
The story carries a lot of righteous writing justice, love it.

Watching Invictathrone fight any conventional military force would be supremely hilarious. Your missiles, turned back on you. Your tanks, thrown around like marbles. Your bullets, absorbed and eventually returned to you. Land mines? Detected and sent hurtling into buildings. The two things an army could do to Invicathrone is to go chemical or throw and EMP at him. In either case it's only partially effective and he'll be up again in a few minutes.
Outside of canon, it would be utterly hilarious to see him fight a Gundam.

So does he use hyper-advanced powers over magnetism, or is it telekinesis?

Natural magnetism. He can't just lift people for the heck of it unless they are in a metal object, on a metal object, or being caught in a metal object. Or have sufficent metal inside of them like a cyborg or something.

Ah. One of mine has similar powers, though not to the same extent. Basically 'he' can either pull the metal in (eat and break it down for later use) or repel it at high speed.
Why yes, I am shamelessly plugging my kaiju.

Lol, Invictathrone had innate abilities that simply grew more intense due to having to cope with his lot in life. Much like a dog with three legs will learn how to run regardless. He was so messed up but refused to die so he ended up accessing and utilizing some areas of his brain a lot of kaiju don't touch all that often. Each of the Heavenly Fang kaiju have a theme of sorts, quite a few of them are blatantly elemental.
Magnetism works just as you described it. Its gets into Magneto levels when you can use both ends of the spectrum at the same time to such an extent that you literally make fields and shit. Invicathrone isn't quite there...yet.

AWESOME. And not to be obnoxious, but I think this guy has a bit of a Gareku vibe to him, was his design inspired by Gareku's "muscle and armor" exterior?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
RenDragonClaw In reply to Gareku [2008-12-06 01:47:48 +0000 UTC]
No, no, and again, no. Gareku has an organic carapace. Invictathrone is a cyborg with the equavilent of plate armor going where it needed to in order to one, patch him up and two, protect him from further damage and protect the cybernetics underneath. His skin doesn't mold around the armor like Garku's does. It lies underneath it, just like a normal suit of armor. I never thought of Gareku when I did Invictathrone, they couldn't be a pair of more different kaiju.
Thanks for checking him out though.

Invictathrone, the Unconquered Shield
First off, awesome name.
This is the ultimate weapon, no nation on earth or the stars(unless their is an alien races with bio-tech which isn't made of metal) could ever stand against it...whatever Hyper Death Ray or nuclear bomb thrown at him will be absorbed into the cyborg's frame and then used against his foes. Nothing a human could ever build would be able to come close to this weapon, the only real hope is to trick the other giants into fighting it or try and grow new ones.
Oh and its neat to see a plant-eating bad guy, not too many out there.

Magnetokinetic, cyborg ceratopsian.......
Now THAT is how you do a villainous monster! Takes some classic elements of the genre and puts them together in a whole new way.
I'm liking that shield-head of his. It blends the cyborg/ceratopsian thing really well. The magnetokinesis is a stylish way of making a cyborg more efficient. I imagine it also helps smooth the transition from animal to machine.

RenDragonClaw In reply to GREGOLE [2008-12-04 06:50:17 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, why leave room for human error when the monster can fix himself with enough time and material .
Invictathrone is the only one that can do that though, so any other monsters of the mecha or cyborg types will have to be explained differently. I'll get to that road when I come to it though.
Thanks for sharing your input Gregole, much appreciated as usual.

He's become one of my personal favorites and he'll have quite a role to play as the series goes on. My only concern is whether he'll have enough clearance around his frill to actually fire those cannons forword. I kinda figured he would dip his head like a he would if he was charging and that would give a clear shot. Not sure about it though.
Anyway, thanks Scatha .

Now that's a nifty way to do a cyborg. The creature's ability to manipulate metal manages to help him bypass the major flaw in machines - namely the inability to heal without retreating for repairs - while still keeping him a cyborg. Plus the living shield aspect of it really fits a ceratopsian monster. Another well put together deisgn. I am loving this series.
