Description Hello, everyone! I'm back in full effect with a little something I thought would be fun to do. My buddy, , suggested I do a Mazinger Z piece. I'm actually more of a Great Mazinga fan, so I started working on it, but I'm also a huge fan of Mattel's line of Shogun Warrior toys, so I took my Great Mazinga, Gaiking, and Dragun toys off the shelf and did a fun group shot. So, here it is, the vintage Shogun Warriors version (not the cartoon) of three of the coolest toys I own, in poses that were impossible to do with the actual figures. Anyways, thanks, Adolfo, for inspiring this!

Awesome rendering style! I also had the big plastic Great Mazinga toy and a smaller die-cast metal Dragun back in the 70s. It was a cool toyline, much more than Micronauts!

thanks...mazinger never ceases to amaze me. Just a few weeks ago, before onemanga closed up, i saw that its fingers could also retract and serve and thrusters to reverse its rocket fist.(it needs a way back to the arm other than some kid's hand.)

scorpsting [2010-07-31 22:42:01 +0000 UTC]

yea, i think the mazinger z/great mazinger/great mazinger's hand was either a fist with rockets coming out of its knuckles, or out of its finger tips....

Oh yeah, it was kind of silly that Mattel put the robot's name on the belt. And in Japanese, what were American kids to think of what that meant. Anyways, thanks, and Merry Year of The Ox, buddy!

well, i remember my first turtles-toy had in all descriptions and characterprofile all in english - it took a while till they had german stickers to put them over it on later runs. probably mattel had a bigger status in japan in the seventies so you have an original first run of the production
yepp, the wishes go back to you as well - donΒ΄t let be a year of bull.. all the best!

Oh yeah, robots and Christmas, the perfect combination. Vectorization? Man, that's your territory, I'm strickly Photoshopin', but speaking of your specialty, I'm working on a "WarDogZero try-out piece". Hopefully you will do me the honor of embellishing it, should you deem it sexy enough. Merry Tomorrow!
