Description I might update it because all these are only influences that I remember.

About time I made an influence map, lol.
They're seperated into 3 categories; general influence, art style influence and narrative influence(story telling wise)

GENERAL

1. Final Fantasy IX
hot damn, this game is a huge, huge influence. Everything (apart from gameplay; not fond of turn based RPGs), from story to designs and environments. Very creative, with diversely sized characters that were absent in the later FF series which I LOVE, the character arcs, the character designs...

2. Cave Story
pretty self explanatory if you knew me a long time ago

3. Metal Slug 3
The Metal Slug trilogy is pretty great, but Metal Slug 3 stood out to me the most like many people. It was one of the games that influenced me with the approach I decide to take with game programming because of its fluid controls. I love reflex-based games and this is one of them. Besides that, the concept art and designs are fucking precious and were one of my main influences in designing mecha.

4. An Untitled Story
This is one of the first indie freeware games I ever played and really loved. Level designs are great, the diverse areas influenced me not only in terms of game programming but also in terms of environment design.

5. Rave Master
though this manga/anime didn't age too well, it remained one of my key influences in inspiring me to make my own stories. Good characters, good story... it made me idolise Hiro Mashima before I hated Fairy Tail lol. I used to have a bunch of stories made that are really influenced by this.

6. Hotline Miami
This one is really special. It not only influenced my love for making games as well as adopt its reflex-based game mechanics, it also inspired/influenced/introduced-me-to a bunch of other things(especially 80's synthwave music!!) that influenced me even further. Crazy, right???

7. Escape from the Underworld
You've all seen Angel Clothed in Black so this should be kinda obvious. This is another indie game that influenced me both game making and story telling wise.

ART STYLE

8. To Love Ru
My old-ass style influence. Ecchi anime that objectifies women in "acceptable" ways. Even though I hate fanservice, the art style here is stunning and at least this anime KNOWS its a fanservice anime so yeah. It was one of my huuuuuge influences in terms of art style all the way back when I was 14 years old. I was taking manga classes at the time and was kinda sick of my art looking like shit, so I practiced a lot by copying the faces (and poses aheheh) of this manga. (Maybe that's why I got annoyed when people told me I'm drawing anime; because I unknowingly branched out from drawing To Love Ru style stuff LOL)

9. Jojolion
Even though I didn't like Jojo's Bizarre Adventure mostly because of the morals Araki portrays there (except for the 2nd part which I only liked because I didn't take it seriously), I freaking adore his art style, especially his latest art style in Jojolion. (Jojolion is more tolerable than the earlier parts to me so yeah) My latest art style is quite influenced by Jojolion with its semi-realism and level of details.

10. Yoshitaka Amano
Holy, shit, I fucking love his art, especially in FF6. While I was still finding my own style, his art was one of the times where I realised that maybe semi-realism style isn't that bad after all. His FF6 art also carries something deep within when I look at it that I can't quite put a finger to.

11. Ariel ZB
One of my most current style influences. Remember how I said Hotline Miami introduced me to a bunch of 80's inspired music? Perturbator was one of them. I found Ariel ZB's art through Perturbator, and he became one of my major influences in my current development in my own art style.

12. TB Sojin
I found TB through one of them art pages on Facebook, and their cartoon style is freaking dynamic and in depth; I couldn't help but copy their stuff and make them one of my art idols. They're also one of my key influences/inspiration in animating, as well as my current development in my own art style like Ariel ZB.

NARRATIVE

13. Dumbing of Age
Shit, I love this webcomic. When I first read it I didn't think much of it; I even got disinterested in reading it. But after persistence and boredom, I continued to read it and it just got better. I also couldn't stop clicking the "Random" button to reread it again and again and everytime I find something new and different in at least one of the pages that I hadn't noticed before. David Willis, the creator (itswalky ), has become one of my idols in terms of storytelling. Even though the beginning isn't really engaging(since it's a reboot of all his old characters), the characters are so damn realistic, well written, and it really influenced me in terms of broadening my horizons on the aspect of storytelling. Not to mention its really inclusive and addresses really subtle but dangerous issues in an open way which is fantastic. I LOVE this webcomic, I LOVE the characters, and I'll be damned if my future storytelling devices didn't have any form of influence from this webcomic.

14. Final Fantasy VI
Apart from Yoshitaka Amano's gorgeous art, I love FF6's storytelling and it was one of those games that got me into good storytelling. It has great characters, a great story, etc... and it has really great world building. I loved that the main characters got in depth backstories and didn't care that they were old ass GBA sprites. The music helped a lot on my love for this game, too. The drama and timing and everything... wow.

15. Fairy Tail
Yeah, sad to say, even though I now hate Fairy Tail with a passion because of the shitty fanservice and eventually boring storyline, it did influence me in my younger years... mostly because of its interested character designs. Especially Juvia, the Rain Woman(before she became just another fanservice character who's all over Grey).

16. Humon
humon is one of those people who I really, REALLY idolise. She helped me come to terms with my own identity with her breaking-conventions art, and she was a key influence in opening my mind up all the way back before I abandoned anime for good. She made me a lot more comfortable with who I am. Not to mention her art depicting different lore (especially Scandivanian) educated me a lot more about different conventions and practices, and the comics and characters she made are just downright awesome.

(UNDER GENERAL)
17. Crash Bandicoot (Especially 2)
Too lazy to include inside after I forgot to, but damn I love the Crash Trilogy. It influenced me so much on many areas. Gameplay, character designs, environments, level design, music, etc... I can't really describe how it did it, but it did.
